I have the more expensive flagship Optoma HD81-LV and it is extremely bright with awesome black levels. I mean it looks like I'm watching regular TV!
That is the one thing I hated about most projectors at the stores. Everytime I went to Ultimate Electronics HT stores and checked out all the projectors they had, all the pictures looked kind of grey to me. I think the reason is because they used that "Cinema" or "Movie" mode or something, which cuts down on the contrast severely.
Just like my computer monitors, I like that Contrast setting way up and Brightness setting to be about 50%.
I like blacks to be completely black, not grey. I want whites to be completely white, not grey. And colors to be colorful and vivid, not dull. Know what I mean?
