So I finally pulled the trigger on a near complete SVS system, which includes the SBS-01's, SCS-01, and a PB12-NSD sub. I have to say that the improvement is remarkable, and I thought I was finally at the point where I could post a few of my pictures. Of course, the TV is the next thing to upgrade at this point, but the sound quality is fantastic so far. :D

Here's a front view of the system w/grills attached:

w/o the grills:

Rear view behind right channel (Brian the dog trying to get in on the action as usual):

The beast... (my third true love at this point, behind a.) my wife, and b.) my dog)

Those JBL Balcony's still hanging around for surround duty (I'll keep 'em for a while, probably)

And my equipment "rack" (needs some updating as well - i.e. Xbox 360 or PS3 and BD player)

Thanks major - yeah, it's coming along. :) I'm finally at the point where I can sit back and enjoy my system for a good while, whilst I plot my next big move in the HT market. The first movie I cranked up with it was War of the Worlds, and I have got to say... holy cow. Even my wife was impressed, which is actually saying quite a bit since she hasn't cared about my speaker obsession since day one. :D

Thanks Greg. I kind of stepped outside the box a little for the rears and mounted them in a rather unconventional way. My wife didn't like the idea of those speakers jutting out from the wall, so I came up with a swivel system utilizing simple hinges and wood blocks (as shown):

So, when we're not watching movies or 5.1 content, we can shove 'em back against the wall.

I call this "Normal or Music Mode"

And this is "Movie Mode"

Very nice! Looks great (and probably sounds even better!).
Wife approved? Bonus!
Pretty cool how your surrounds swivel like that. Your sub is bigger than your tv !

Um... is that a problem? :D LOL Seriously - I do have to get around to upgrading the "Visual" portion of my "Audio/Visual" experience, but alas - one thing at a time, as it goes. ;)

We've had some earth-shaking sounds come from this setup so far, and as far as the wife approved aspect of it - I think she's coming around to seeing why I'm putting so much time and energy into all this. :)

We watched "The Patriot" last night - damn, that cannon fire had me jumping in my seat a few times!!

btw, I feel your pain having a smallish room in which to try to get a seamless and detailed soundstage. I also have struggled with speaker placement having windows behind the seating position eliminates any possibility of placing my surrounds and rears up on the wall like yours. It looks like your seating position is pretty close to the tv so when you upgrade don't go too big!
Then again, you could just knock down the wall... ;)

You're right Chuk - one of the biggest challenges I've had thus far is the size and dimensions of this room. This is a house we plan to sell off probably in the next couple of years (god willing the housing market improves of course), and dialing in the system to achieve a flat response has been a nightmare.

What the pictures don't show is the fact that it's a vaulted ceiling that runs into an open dining room area and kitchen on the other end. Room treatments may still effect some improvements, but to be honest, for this room, I figure I'm fairly comfortable with where it's at, sonically at this point. I know it could still be better, but I'll probably wait until we have a more ideal space to work with, spread it out a little and start really getting down to it. :)

I have to remark though - as powerful as that sub is, and even in this room, it still performs like a champ. Not sloppy at all, and seems to dig down to the sub-20 Hz area that the frequency plot promises. Man, I'm so happy I purchased that sucker! :D

Besides, I have to give her some time to cool off after my recent frenzy of activity. Not sure if she's going to go for those SBS's hanging off the wall like that. :) Might have to wait until we have a bigger room so we can blend them into the surroundings a little better. :p

It would be so nice if she just shared in my obsession. :D

I just don't know about you Halon...
Your wife comes up in your posts at nearly a 1:1 ratio; are you sure you're married ;)?
This is eerily reminiscent of that guy (the garbageman) in the first Ghost in the Shell movie who was ghost hacked into believing he had a sick wife; and he was justifying his actions (or in your case purchases) in his terribly deluded mind.
In fact, I believe when they finally "cured" him, the pic of his wife turned into a pic of his dog before his very eyes.
Ohhhhh sh!t!!!
Your first post!!!
Never mind, go home; you're not a replicant.

With your SVS Sub, put "The Polar Express" on your list. I watched it last night in Blu-Ray = Oh my.

The first time the train pulled up.... my dog came running into the living room, he was not happy with the situation
