Watched F1 in Dolby Cinema last night. I might recommend seeing it in IMAX instead, since the ENTIRE film is shot in IMAX. On 8K laser, it looked a bit grainy. The audio was ridiculous. Probably the best sounding action movie I've seen in quite a while. Story is not entirely believable, but hey, it is a movie. It is not a completely mindless flick though. The character interaction is great. It is sort of The Man With No Name (pick one lol) meets Top Gun.

What is really the most fun here though is the IMAX shots from the driver's seat and around the track. This alone warrants seeing it in IMAX.

The video was a bit grainy?

It was shot using the Digital 6K IMAX Sony Venice camera as usual. So I would expect perfectly smooth video.

Going to see it in IMAX tomorrow!

So, is your Dolby Cinema stacking two 4k projectors? I’m not aware of any 8k laser projectors on the market. :)

You will see when you watch it. Some scenes are likely not shots from the IMAX cameras, though they claim the whole movie is. It is only in certain scenes, as the shots from the cars are extremely clear. They custom built the cameras just for this movie.

Partnering with Apple Original Films and the filmmakers, “F1®: The Movie was shot with more than a dozen newly designed IMAX-certified digital cameras strategically positioned to capture the speed, precision, and intensity of racing like never before, including Brad Pitt driving at 180 mph. The film is presented entirely in IMAX’s exclusive 1.90:1 expanded aspect ratio and with a custom sound mix tailored to IMAX’s acoustician-designed sound system, featuring the industry’s largest speakers, laser-aligned for pinpoint audio precision. Director Joseph Kosinski worked closely with IMAX, including reviewing camera tests at IMAX HQ during pre-production, and made specific creative and technical decisions to deliver a movie designed for the IMAX Experience®.

Yes, it is dual 4K projectors.

Only Dolby Cinema has the quality of the Dolby Vision Dual 4K laser projection system. The picture clarity and detail of both 2D and 3D movies is so lifelike it has to be seen to be believed.

The TRON:Ares trailer looked amazing too!!!!!

Dang! I need to hit up a Dolby Theater someday. No theater around me has one. I'd have to drive about 20 miles to the nearest AMC theater that most likely has one or two.

Even here, where there are a lot of people and big movie complexes, there are only 4, across a large area. One happens to be right across the freeway from where I work though

The kids came over and we watched Ballerina with the system cranked up. There was a boatload of gunfights. We all thought it was pretty good, so not sure why it isn't making money. I DO get one small aspect: she mostly has to fight with guns and other weapons because she is basically too small for most of the CQC. They even mention it in the film. It has some of the best kills from the John Wick franchise IMO, but it doesn't quite capture the same feel as Wick. Still a lot of fun.

Yeah, I like “Ballerina”. Not as good as John Wick. But still very good and better than most movies. Also got to see some good John Wick scenes in the movie, which does help the movie. :D

Watched Dark City 4K over the weekend. The foreword by Ebert and Proyas was very interesting. It is still grainy in some spots, but overall it looked vastly improved. I was impressed with it in general. Another good one from Arrow.

It was Roger Ebert's enthusiasm that go me watching "Dark City" when the movie was released in 1998. :D

Dark City 1998 got a 4.5-Star for Video.

Another movie remastered in 4K that got a 4.5-Star Video is "The Usual Suspects 1995". I saw about 10 minutes. It looked really good like Dark City, but probably not as good as "Se7en" and "Con Air".

I just saw "Cold Skin 2017". It was only 1080p, but in ATMOS.

Video: Looks great. I don't know which camera they used, but the video looks great.

Audio: Awesome ATMOS sound effects, especially during scenes when the creatures are on the roof of the house. I could hear the footsteps running around. Definitely one of those things where you can say "Cool" when you see it on screen.

Story: Sci-Fi. Freaky. Exciting. It reminds me of "The Lighthouse 2019", except I enjoyed this movie a lot more than "The Lighthouse". :D

Maybe one day they can release it on 4K.

Preordered Phil Collins - No Jacket Required Atmos BD and ordered Kill Bill Vol2 4K since it is now 50% (vs. 30% last week) off for Prime Day.

I recently watched Warfare on 4k Disc. Great movie! Reference sound on the disc. Picture quality was good. Nothing is really going to pop since it takes place in Iraq and it's all desert and dusty looking. The movie is a snapshot of a day for these Navy Seals. Everything starts easy, but things turn real quick, a few hours later. The sound of gunfire takes over the room and there are a couple explosions that will hit hard. Then there are couple of times they call in a "show of force" and damn, does it get loud. I had the volume at my normal viewing level and my room was blowing up! I can't imagine this at reference levels.

If you are a fan of these types of movies, you will enjoy this one. It was written and co-directed by one of the Navy Seals that experienced this mission. Another Seal associated with this mission was also on set helping get things accurate as well. The Actors did an excellent job putting us in the moment. :)

I watched it about a month ago. It is pretty intense and feels very real. The sound was the shining star though, man it sounded good. Pretty solid performances. Might have to pick it up on disc.

I thought it was alright. I was hoping for another "Black Hawk Down", but it wasn't close. So I guess I was disappointed.

I thought the sound was good, but nothing really grabbed my attention like in "Civil War 2024 4K ATMOS", which I think has awesome ATMOS.

the sound didn't grab your attention??? might need to scrap those speakers and get something better! :D

With it being an A24 movie, they like to keep budgets fairly low, so no major movie stars or big extravagant sets like in Black hawk down.

Speaking of Civil War. I just watched that for the first time last week. It had so much potential to be good, but the overall story just failed. It was basically us being thrown in the situation and going with it. No backstory, no reasons why this or that is happening, why are they in this situation to even begin with, etc..... The best scenes were Jesse Plemons. He did awesome (as usual) with his role in this movie. Sound was good, picture was fine. Nothing major to write about.

I liked Civil War and felt it had some pretty good audio too. Good performances, but I agree, it sort of feels like the second film in a series. It presents itself as not needing to explain how it happened, except in passing, so "willful suspension of disbelief" aka; just go with it. Warfare actually is similar in that it makes the assumption that you understand the events that were going on at the time to explain why they are there.

Civil War telegraphed most of what happened. There is a fine line between hinting and blurting it out.

I mean ATMOS overhead sound effects (Warfare 4K Streaming).

If you have a great ATMOS system, you would see that "Civil War" has a lot better ATMOS effects than "Warfare". :D

In terms of story, "Warfare" basically didn't have much story/plot - they were stuck in the house and the plot was to get out of the house and return to base. IMO, that's lame. :D

I wouldn't say "Civil War" has a great plot, but at least the plot is a lot more complex.

"Black Hawk Down" also has a lot more complex plot than "Warfare".

Anyway, that's my impression of "Warfare 4K Streaming". Not sure if the UHD Disc is much better, but I didn't think much of the non-plot. :D
