Inner diameter without the wooden frame is about 180mm.

But in the advertisement from around 1990 it is advertised as two 200mm woofers.
I’ve never seen this version before is that saying 18 inch across?

These appear to be from the European market as well as I’ve seen this design but the but the woofers was not mounted to a chamber and not in the top this a new one on me . Interesting how do these sound ?

It’s 18 centimetres. Even though it says 20 centimetres on the original data sheet.

They sound very good. The bass gets better when I’m placing them towards the room. The mids and highs are awesome. And I really like the stage it creates.

Regarding the woofer, I found this original ad and translated it via AI.
Here‘s the translation:
A strong principle from JBL
The woofers of the HP 430, 530, and 590 are invisible, but unmistakable. They are positioned directly behind each other and are acoustically connected via an air tube. The front side of the upper woofer radiates into a pressure chamber to enhance the upper bass frequencies. The plastic and glass cabinet top is a component of this pressure chamber. The back of the lower bass chassis, on the other hand, interacts with a bass reflex volume that amplifies the lowest tones. Despite their slim design, the new HP speakers therefore deliver exceptionally strong and tight bass. Together with the improved midrange driver and the specially tuned crossover, these JBL design speakers achieve outstanding detail and naturalness across the entire listening range.

By the model numbers it would seem these are the second version of these towers I don’t think theses were sold hear hence the 430, 530 ect only ones I’ve seen hear our 420’s 520’s ect . Same cabinet although on my version all the corners use a lock miter on the corners . If these are anything like mine they love good clean power but don’t take much to get loud either how are replacement parts for these .as with mine they do sound best about 2 feet from a wall or corners of the room and the switch on the bottom set to 0 db .
Congratulations on a great find put good quality media threw these and they will sound way above there original price point .
