The beatings will continue until you start liking everything on the touchscreen and buried in 5 levels-deep menus!
j/k aside, while I could do some basic temp control on my KIA EV9, some critical functions like Climate Auto, Climate Off, AC ON/OFF, External Air intake - These are only on touchscreen and some hidden at least one level deep.
Airbus is all fly-by-wire .... is there anything critical that is not a physical button?

It is fly by wire, so are most modern cars these days, but the pilot isn't poking around a bunch of screens to find things. He has a console with all critical controls at his disposal. My 2011 STI already had throttle by wire back then.

as already correctly replied by J_Garcia. Drive-by-wire and touchscreen controls are apples and oranges. It's all electronics under the surface. The question is of user control - 100% prefer physical controls and no they don't have to be mechanical levers and pullies.

I just want buttons

Nah, not an issue at all(when done properly), watch a few videos and you'll understand ;)
Oh, i understand- I knew someone who had a body shop and watched them as they polished several vehicles. I have seen cars that were clay-barred but that's an intermediate step and I was cleaning the paint on my white cargo van, so I wasn't trying to make it into a show car. For a vehicle with great paint, I would probably have someone do this, correction and polish because A) they're better at this than I am B) I ,have two bad shoulders- after polishing the gelcoat on my boat, I learned how brutal that work can be and C) I would need a dual action polisher.

Done by people who have the experience and knowledge, car finishes can be spectacular- I used to go to the World of Wheels custom car shows and some of them were unbelievable.

I have been using it for many years. It is used by body shops to completely clean the surface when working on your paint without damaging it. You scrub a bit with it, then knead it, scrub some more. It literally pulls the contaminants out of the surface, When it discolors, you toss it a get a fresh piece. The main thing is, it is less harmful to the paint than any other method of cleaning, while also cleaning better.
Again, I understand that it's widely used, but it was for my white cargo van, which isn't exactly pristine and I just didn't want to spend the money- three bucks for the scrubber was more appealing and it really worked great- I did this in full sunlight and the scrubber didn't add swirl marks, which were visible from all of the washing, etc from before. Even after a good wash, I felt grit on the paint and after several years, it's still smoother after washing than before the scrubber. The pad is polypropylene mesh.

Local dealer has the 2024 Ioniq 5 for $21k off and a pretty compelling lease deal at $119/month, $1800 at signing.
About half of what mine was. They want to get rid of them because the 25s are coming and nobody will want the smaller battery once they do.

I think we're going to look at one before the weeks up. It's an outstanding lease deal, just need to see if my wife likes it at all. She's really attached to her Bronco Sport, but we only have 22,000 miles on it in 2.5 years. EV makes sense for the 98% of the in-town driving she does and we already have solar offsetting our electric bill.

Today Volvo notified me that beginning 18 Nov 24, I can start charging my car, a Volvo C40, at Tesla SuperCharger fast chargers while on the road. The software to do this will be available on my EV's phone app as well as on some (but not all) Tesla SuperChargers. My car's computer will also show these locations on it's Google Map system.

That opens me up to use Tesla's fast Level 3 chargers on road trips. That would add about as much as 15,000 fast chargers that I can use. I must have a suitable adapter that allows charging an EV with J1772/CCS1 receptacles from Level 3 chargers with the North American Charge System (NACS) plugs, the standard previously only on Teslas. Ford, GM, and Rivian already have access to that. Soon, most European EVs will also have it. The NACS system will be standard for all EVs sold in Mexico, the USA, and Canada. In Europe, all EVs including Tesla will use the EU standard J1772/CCS1 plugs & receptacles.

Volvo dealers will begin selling adapters for this on 18 Nov, at an unknown price. On Amazon, I can find adapters for this selling from $190 to $240. I'll wait to see if the price falls after the initial buying wave.

Polestart also got access, since they use the same systems as Volvo. Hyundai is supposed to get access in Jan.

DON'T get 3rd party adapters. Get one from a reputable company or OEM only. I read a report on Eletrek and it says many of the knock off ones on Amazon are actually dangerous. Lectron was the only one they recommended.

Good to know, thanks. That Lectron adapter cost about $240 on Amazon.

Boeing 737 Max cancel auto pilot was three levels deep in the menu. That was one reason why pilots could not quickly over ride the auto pilot. Case of poor programming and UAT.

No way ...

To disengage autopilot in a Boeing 737 MAX 8, you can use several different methods, depending on the situation and preferred technique. Here are the main ways to turn off autopilot on the 737 MAX 8:
  1. Autopilot Disengage Button on the Control Yoke:
    • Press the Autopilot Disengage button on the control yoke (located on both the captain's and first officer's yoke).
    • Pressing this button once will disconnect the autopilot, and you’ll hear aural warnings.
    • Press it again to silence the disconnect warning sound.
  2. Autopilot Disconnect Switch on the MCP (Mode Control Panel):
    • You can also disconnect the autopilot by pressing the AP (Autopilot) Disconnect switch on the Mode Control Panel (MCP) located in the upper center part of the main instrument panel.
  3. Manual Input on the Control Column or Rudder Pedals:
    • In certain situations, moving the control column forcefully or applying substantial rudder pedal pressure can override and disengage the autopilot, though this method is typically used as a backup.
  4. Thrust Levers:
    • Advancing the thrust levers to the TO/GA (Takeoff/Go-Around) position also disconnects the autopilot.
After disengaging the autopilot, be prepared to manually fly the aircraft. In any case, you should monitor the Flight Director guidance bars and use trim adjustments as needed.

There is some talk of a potential Tesla model 2 pout there .......
If that red one could be somewhat close to what would possibly be arriving ..... then I like design

That red one with 275/35 profile tyres and red calipers :oops:

That's what I had read. Stand err sit corrected. Was this the original set up or modified later after the crashes? I wonder why the pilots not disengage the auto pilot and hand fly at first sign of trouble? As a private pilot flying club Piper Archers and Arrows I was trained/told to no to fight the auto pilot, cancel and hand fly at first sign of trouble. I had auto pilot fail on two long cross countries once with sudden 45 degree left pitch down another sudden pitch up. Fortunately both were in VFR.
