I have a very low opinion of def.Tech gear. The spec. of that speaker says 24 Hz to 30,000 Hz, but you don't know that it isn't 100 db. down at 24 Hz. So the FR spec. is totally meaningless and therefore useless. That is a company that should be avoided at all costs.Got a second look and quite positive now that it's this speaker. Any opinions?

Bass extension to 24 Hz seems like a fantasy.

How are decent in walls going to brrsk the bank give me one sec and I'll shoot you a couple links of some that will smash those sound bars for 2k or underUPDATE: Not longer after hearing these speakers, I decided they were not very good. The two ceiling speakers as fine as surround, but these did not cut it as fronts, so I have them removed and sold them.
So now I am still hunting for the ideal replacement.
Should I just get better in-walls, or drywall the holes and get a passive soundbar?
Decent in-walls seem to break the bank for me (over $2k/pair) so here are some passive soundbars I'm considering.

Sure, that's a start! The room is a challenge, Open concept ground floor. 55" on an 8 foot wall with a damned gas fireplace on the left. The Klipsch bar was $2600 so I'll go with anything around that price and lower
Okay one sec do you happen to have a Pic of the entire room? Is that the only spot you can set up gear in that room. That's a very difficult spot for any in wall speaker to sound good especially with that heater to your left. Phantom center imaging would be a nightmareI should add that the maximum cavity space between studs is 34” high × 9.125” width × 3.5” deep
No rush at all! Enjoy the day!I need an hour because I need to walk the dog![]()
It's a lovely placeFloorstanders couldn't be easier as that's what I have now
… but trying to improve the WAF a bit… also these only sound great when brought forward to the carpet. So a bit awkard. Plus I sold the center. View attachment 68097

I'm not surprised they only sounded good out to the carpet those corners on the left with the heater then open to the right but then on the right side all those reflections from that pantry area with the glass on the fridges and wine rack and then that marble top would be an acoustic challenge on your first reflections how far back are you sitting by the way in that picture with those speakersFloorstanders couldn't be easier as that's what I have now
