I'm trying to understand why the AVR market is just starting to cater to gamers. So it's that important to integrate AVR's for gamers.
Really, it is gamers that are using the features first, but some of this could trickle down to certain video types.

For me, if a game is only on a specific console or PC and I want to play it, I'll have whatever console or PC I need to play that game.

I''ve had a VRR monitor with my PC for a few years, and after having that I'm not going back to fixed frame rates again.

The Atmos sound is an afterthought for me on PC. I am curious to see what it does though.

I just googled gaming by 2023 it's expected to be over 90 billion in US dollars. So yeah AVR manufacturers want a piece of that pie for sure.

Oh yeah. Some games now have bigger budgets that Hollywood movies. It's crazy how it used to be such a niche industry (well, PC gaming anyway) and now everyone and their mom has a gaming PC.

My mom has 2 that her and my dad play VR games on.

You young guys are fortunate, back in the 80,s 90,s all we had was Atari before that pinball machines. Now it's all virtual, I just read a article where this young woman was playing online virtual game. She put up this bubble shield around her character so no one could get to her cause she was getting groped. Imagine that.

I suspect more your TV than the AVR at this point... We have both the RX-A8A with an AppleTV 4k as source, I don't have any issue with HDCP set to auto (everything set as default). Using Hdmi1 AVR output to the eArc HDMI TV Input. Switching my AppleTV on switch both AVR and TV On... Using them 16 hours a day for more than a month now without any issue. I don't say that your AVR isn't at fault, maybe something broke, but if it's not a failure, then I will try to check what happens between the AVR and the TV.... Maybe there is something to tweak in the TV hdcp settings ?
You were right! It was the TV. I disconnected the LG 55OLED C1 from mains for one minute and reconnected it. It works normal now.

I am going to start programming those Yamaha SCENES. And then start using the SCENES with MusicCast app, instead of using the old AV Controller app.

Since Yamaha is doing away with the AV Controller app. Might as well get with the program. :D

Change is difficult. :D

I still can't get that dam app to work. For some reason it won't pair up with my cellphone. So I just use the AVR setup online.

My first system was an atari. My parents got it before I was born. They've been games as long as I've been alive. Not quite 40 years.

What's better to use, PS5, XBox or PC for gaming.
It depends on your video needs from game content and devices you have at home.

PC is the best in terms of quality and power of CPU and GPU. As PC components can be more powerful than consoles, it can provide the ultimate experience. Consoles are better for connectivity convenience and all-in-one package. For example, Flight Simulator is always going to run better on PC, even with ultimate settings, if you have enough powerful system, as it a very demanding game in terms of processing power it needs.

Thanks, so PC is King when it comes to gaming.

Yes, I've just got to that stage too.
I used the Web Setup. On the Scenes tab, you can disable "recall" on everything except Input, Registered Content, Mode and Sound (so it doesn't dim the screen or change the video mode etc when you switch Scenes). Then set just these 3 things for each Scene (e.g. for Tidal I use Straight with Enhancer off).

They certainly want a piece, but it's not going to happen without offering more diverse video ports at the back panel. Ever. For consoles, HDMI only is fine. Consoles do not offer any other interface anyway. For PC world, they will need to put more effort to evolve boards and offer DisplayPort too. See this post for what AVRs need to develop to be truly competitive in this market. #2,438

Do not forget that audio solutions in PC world are very diverse and competitive already, from onboard ever improving audio, to add-in cards like sound blaster, to multi-channel desktop systems, soundbars, etc. AVRs would need to offer a good value, attractive connectivity and feature appeal to become more popular in that market. With HDMI ports on offer only, this is not possible. A simple restriction is number of combinations of resolutions and refresh rates in AVR's EDID, which is mostly restricted to 1080p and 4K only due to traditional focus on consumer electronics sector. Most AVR machines do not support 1440p, let alone more diverse screen settings. This is automatically a no go for PC people and they will avoid AVRs and favour direct DisplayPort connections, without elaborate workaround for sound. AVRs' HDMI boards are not well-suited at this moment to integrate into PC ecosystem.

As for revenue money, almost $90 billion is just mobile gaming worldwide. The figure is much higher across platforms. It's an exploding industry. See below.
