@shadyJ does a lot of the reviews here at Audioholics, do you not? He's listened to AND measured more subs and speakers than almost anyone else on here. He's the antithesis of a person who has no idea what he's talking about.
We get it, you're very happy with your Gotham and you want to believe it's the be all, end all, of subwoofers.
JL rates the amplification as "4500 w RMS short term". That's literally meaningless. RMS is a sustained measurement, but short term is just the opposite. The two terms don't go together.
Sealed sub systems are inherently less efficient than ported systems, you can look this one up yourself on
data bass. They've tested the JL audio E112 which claims "1500 w RMS short term" and an older Hsu, the VTF-15H which was listed as 1400 w short term, 350 w RMS (actual meaningful information).
