Both are next to the couch, so I can feel the Bass. The Jamo will be moved to the front. I need to order a cable to hook it up as the 3rd sub. The thick rug does a great job so it won't be boomy or rattle.

Holy crap, these just popped up today. First pair of Salk speakers I've seen here, but they seem a bit overpriced? No? A pair of SS6M monitors for $4300! Gorgeous as one would expect from Salk but isn't that tower speaker price for him?

View attachment 50102

Also a pair of KEF Reference 1 speakers for $8 grand! What the..? I think it's the same dude. Again, kinda pricey?

Ok it really makes me wonder when people are selling speakers like this so quickly after buying them. This is for a lot of money though even if a good deal.

In his ad he mentions inheriting so gear from his recently deceased father so he's keeping it and selling what he already had.

Both gorgeous speakers! I've never heard the Salks but from what you later posted, they are priced rather high. I have heard the Reference 1s and they are among the best I have ever heard, still priced too high though. He has them listed on US Audio Mart for $7500.
New retail with stands is $10K. The only other pair I could find ATM is listed (with stands) for $8500CA ($6785US) which seems more in line with what I have seen online...

Okay, here's something that might actually be a pretty good deal for someone looking for speakers and a receiver. A Denon AVR 1912 and a pair of Paradigm Export BP tower speakers (and a li'l 8" sub- meh) all for $160. The receiver is outdated, but still a good powerful receiver. I know because I actually owned one. The speakers now, those might be interesting even if it was $160 just for them alone. They reviewed pretty well (with measurements) at hifi review and sold for over a grand new.

Only drawback could be that they're bipolar, but they're well behaved bipolar and apparently pretty decent. Was it @Kvn_Walker who has BP speakers?

View attachment 50097

Yep, I had the Eclipse BP, which were the 8" version (the Exports are 6.5"). Out of the 3 different bipolars, the Paradigm had the best lower midrange. They're thick and heavy cabinets, but that extra size gives the woofers plenty of air to breathe, so they have bass that will surprise you.

$160 for all that is a freaking steal. I paid $500 just for the Eclipse BP speakers. Your local deal's firmly in the "buy it even though I don't need it" price range!

Okay, yeah. Jim has these still right now for under $3900 in standard veneer! Where's he getting $4300 from?! I know they're great speakers and hold their value but if I'm paying more than full retail I'll wait 9 months and get my own custom finish!
You'd probably pay around $4300 after shipping, but still...

If he had them at list price, that would be great for no wait as long as you liked the veneer.

The second one is the current style with the improved front baffle that eliminates the trim ring on the woofer. It's definitely the better deal.

Here's an interesting find. A pair of behemoth VPMS towers for $1k. Looks like a little overkill with that many drivers but then I've heard VPMS make very good speakers. These have both ribbon and dome tweets, and a 15" driver pulling bass duty.

I had almost talked myself into making an offer on those Spendor’s, but the seller emailed me and told me they were sold today.

Thank goodness! I swear no matter how hard I try to stop, I’m always looking for that next fix. o_O

Man do I relate to that. My inability to stop the reason this thread exists, lol.
It's amazing how much good stuff is near you though.

I've spot checked San Antonio and Austin and there are some OK things, but nothing I'd take the time to test.

I'll keep looking though. You never know what will come up.

I think this thread magnifies how much good stuff there actually is. At least compared to all of the garbage I have to sift through to find it. I only post the stuff that's interesting or funny, tho sheer volume from the population density does up my chances of finding something. The whole valley covers a lot of area. When I search Phoenix metro there's never less than a thousand hits in the search after filtering. If I expand it to surrounding areas there's usually around 15-1600 hits!

The cool finds are fun tho, and I know most everyone here can appreciate them so I do have fun finding and sharing, and I have scored a couple of really cool items for myself. My Sierra 2s for $650 are what got me going in the direction of Ascend Acoustics. They're impressive little speakers. I just needed more power.

Yes, I know about folks in Arizona. I used to travel there 2 or 3 times a years on Business. One of the first times I went to Tucson it was late during MLB spring training, and they were having an unusually very warm spell early on in the year. It was like a Ghost town until the Sun went down. Not a soul on the streets; and if folks went anywhere it was from one air conditioned place to another via an air conditioned car => even if it was a block away! Nobody used the sidewalks.

Another time one August I had to go to Morenci, and it was 104° F when I landed in Phoenix. Being a Canuck from Vancouver, BC that was really super hot for me (until this June at home but that's another story). I mentioned it to my contacts and they laughed and told me to come back when it warms up!

My collection is growing too. :D
Along with the Marantz 4023 my daughter got 2 Canton subs and 4 Canton wall mount speakers. Made in Germany and look decent. Hope I can find the specs online. She can't use these in her apartment so I'll either sell them or buy them for myself. Might make for better surrounds and I would then have matching front height. Small subs would be nice for the living room for when I upgrade the tv and avr.

Those are some Canton subs I wanted to hear. The Cantons speakers I've heard have great bass, so no sub needed. Hope to hear your thoughts if you buy them. Get them! :D

Well, they are basically mine now. :) She has had them for months and was going to sell them but did not know their worth. Apartment was getting cluttered so the deal was that when I gave her the KEFs she would sell the Marantz and her old towers and I would take the Cantons and sell them for her. Just need to give her fair value but being a dad I will likely over pay. ;)

The AS 85.2 SC subs have a 9" driver, 200 watts RMS (250W max) and rated 25Hz to 200Hz. That model has been replaced by the AS 85.3. Translating the specs from German, this looks like a pretty decent sub in a small form factor. 25Hz is not terribly deep, but typical for something in the 480 Euro (C$715 US$566) price range. The woofer has an aluminum graphite cone, magnesium die-cast frame and copper coils. The grills are acoustically transparent aluminum (like the Arendals). The box is flat white MDF with gloss white metal trim on the front. It is quite attractive for a small sub. The tall slender form factor makes this a nice option for the living room where aesthetics are important. Build quality looks to be pretty good. I'm tempted to swap out my SVS for the dual Cantons just for fun and see how they perform but I want to get REW setup first so that I can do some measurements as well.
