Are These Finds Good Deals?

I got disappointed for something like this a couple weeks back. Someone about a 4 hour drive away was selling 2 AMPs and a nice Klipsch THX Ultra 2 system that they had marked as $1,000. I was ready to head that way and was making plans :) Then he says, no the speakers are $8K. Just using the $1K as a placeholder. Kind of bummed me out.
Yeah. I get why they do it, but it's dishonest. It's not like I'm gonna click on what looks like a killer deal and suddenly spend 8 or 10 times as much just because they got me to click on it.

How about these JBL ES80 towers for 50 bucks? I've never seen them before. They don't look top of the line, but appear to be 3 way (4 way?) speakers and price includes a receiver.

Big nope on these now that’s not to say the smaller books in this lineup are really nice sounding speakers but only for surround use or atmos use . Don’t confuse these with the north ridge E series which has a better step up in component selection on drivers and cab quality.
It’s my opinion that these lower lines the towers sound not to my liking but the smaller bookshelves in about all have sounded quite good to my ear and produce a soundstage quite larger than they are . Downside these lower lines were made in ole Mexico and the cabs will separate at the corners My guess very cheap mdf or particle board that don’t absorb glue well and no mitre lock corners in the build .

Did you get the remote? I needed one for my Pioneer and found a copy for less than ten on ebay and works great.
No remote yet. I think she'll need one to have any hope of selling the Marantz. No friends into 2 channel audio so might as well list it.

I'd have jumped on that too for $1k

Check out these, I'm assuming electrostats, seller has 'em advertised as "Electromagnetic Speakers". I should message him and let him know that every speaker is an electromagnetic speaker... lol.

Anyhoo, Acoustat Spectra 22s for $750. $750?? According to the seller these have a f3 of 30 hz?? Is that right? Are these actually rare and sought after? That price seems high to me. They look in pretty decent shape tho.

Another person selling them. Looks like they came out in 1988 according to this.

Goodwill had this at $50. They just happen to have 50% off even better. I bought it along with some Vinyls. I just hooked it up and it's as good as my Energy S8.3 that I got last year. Put on The Dark Knight and it shook the room by itself! Keeper. 2 Energy and 1 Jamo in living room. 24 inches in total in Bass. o_O :p:eek: Holy Moly. Oh not my pics. The black piano finish is stunning in person!

Way cool! That's a nice looking sub too, all glossy black. Big ass port too. I'll bet that's a pretty decent perfoming sub. I might not have been able to pass that up either and I have absolutely no use for it right now, lol.

Well... then I s'pose I'd have to find a use! I forget what you already had. Is it pretty close to the same tuning? If you don't need it in another room you can go multi sub.

I'm gonna run both Energy and Jamo in the living room. I think both Energy go down to 33hz. Those driver are some of the best I've seen. That hard rubber they use is just fantastic. If you ever see one jump on it. For an 8inch sub you'd be surprised it can compete with some 12inch.The blue light in front isn't intrusive.
Edit. 33hz on the newer one and 27hz on the older one. Good stuff. Both have identical drivers.

It's a great looking li'l sub too. I really like the aesthetics and that driver looks like it can throw down.

Okay, here's something that might actually be a pretty good deal for someone looking for speakers and a receiver. A Denon AVR 1912 and a pair of Paradigm Export BP tower speakers (and a li'l 8" sub- meh) all for $160. The receiver is outdated, but still a good powerful receiver. I know because I actually owned one. The speakers now, those might be interesting even if it was $160 just for them alone. They reviewed pretty well (with measurements) at hifi review and sold for over a grand new.

Only drawback could be that they're bipolar, but they're well behaved bipolar and apparently pretty decent. Was it @Kvn_Walker who has BP speakers?

Holy crap, these just popped up today. First pair of Salk speakers I've seen here, but they seem a bit overpriced? No? A pair of SS6M monitors for $4300! Gorgeous as one would expect from Salk but isn't that tower speaker price for him?

Also a pair of KEF Reference 1 speakers for $8 grand! What the..? I think it's the same dude. Again, kinda pricey?

Okay, yeah. Jim has these still right now for under $3900 in standard veneer! Where's he getting $4300 from?! I know they're great speakers and hold their value but if I'm paying more than full retail I'll wait 9 months and get my own custom finish!
