Let us know what you think! The nice thing about SVS is that generous return policy and an option to upgrade too. You might find a pair of SB3000s is enough tho. They're powerful subs for what they are.

So, just unplugging the old equipment and plugging in the new subs I was underwhelmed and expecting to return/exchange the SB3000s.

After running Audussey AccuEQ and testing a little music & a movie I think I may have made the right choice. These things boom (enough so that I was constantly turning down the sub level during the movie). I need to play around a bit more with placement, but so far I am impressed.

Good to hear! Proper setup is key for sure. You can try experimenting with the Dynamic EQ setting too. Here's a chart with some sweeps illustrating the effect of the different RLO settings for Audyssey.

DEQ off is pretty much flat. If you turn that off it should be the most accurate response, with the rest adding varying degrees of boost. I personally prefer RLO 10 for my system.

Just curious... how many folks in this thread have actually set up a system in a room in the 8000-10000 cu-ft size range?
I just did. My livingroom is 40x20x9. so just about 8kcu. The way I arranged my room with a pair of PB-4000s... I can shake the room quite well.

Yep. With time, a mic/PC, and the audyssey app+ratbudyssey you can have a nice pretty curve like that...maybe. You have a lot of control over your subs if your receiver can use the audyssey app. You can get pretty granular with tweaking and take up a lot of time, but also get excellent results.

Actually it is AccuEq - I was incorrect.

Trying to decide if I should upgrade the speakers to go along with the new sub. I mean, I've had 3 TVs and 3 receivers since I bought them. Plus, Blonde Maple doesn't match my décor! :D

Infinity IL40s (front), IL36C, IL30s (rear)
You're kidding...

I just picked up a pair of IL30s off Craigslist a couple days ago! In fact I have them hooked up to my main system, right now listening to TOOL. I got a smoking deal on them because 1) the owner greatly undervalued them, and 2) one of the tweeters weren't playing. So I offered 10 bucks and he took it. I got them home and found a loose jumper on the back. They both work flawlessly! Anyway I've been bragging about them for the last couple of days now and am quite enamored with them. Very nice, very balanced, neutral speakers.

That's funny. Hey tho, I'm pretty impressed with them. I'd love to check out the IL40s. I believe that specific model was one of Floyd Toole's favorite speakers in the price range. Anyhoo... at least now I know you have a high bar and am very familiar with your speakers I'm gonna open up by saying if you want something noticeably better you're gonna need a pretty healthy budget for 5.0.

I am not kidding - I have pics to prove it! ;)

I do enjoy the speakers (they, like the subs, are probably better than I deserve) but do wish they had a little 'more'. As I mentioned before, I primarily listen to EDM when I do listen to music and I find them a bit lacking (it might be how loud I like things).

Also, and more importantly, they don't match the décor of the house. I had planned on replacing them when we moved in as blonde maple adds a third, unwanted, wood-type to the room. 11 years later I still haven't gotten around to it.... I've had these speakers a long time and they've been through 3 moves (but I still have the factory boxes)!
