I'm cruising around the internet trying to find the best deal I can on a new subwoofer for my HT room. I've pretty much narrowed it down to an SVS, just trying to decide which one to get (though I'm still mightily tempted by the Monolith 12" THX and the Paradigm Defiance X12).
Anyway, I come across this article about the difference between Sealed vs Ported woofers. So I read it. Then I start looking for more articles, and read a few more. Basically, they all say the same thing: sealed is great for a smaller room, but for a bigger rooms go with ported.
Here's my dilemma: I've only got about 1450 cubic ft in my HT room. And for not much more in price ------>1399$ compared to 1259$, I can 'upgrade' from the SVS PB 2000 Pro, to the SVS SB 3000. The jump from the 2000 Pro to the PB 3000 is quite substantial (700$ more for the PB 3000).
So, which one do I go for? Whichever one I end up getting, I'll eventually add another one.
