I'll put my finger, too, on the scale for Outlaw Monoblock 2220s!
Three for $1K is a great price for some good clean power! I have 5ea 2200s and love them.

I see these for $399 each. Were they on sale when you posted this perhaps?

Outlaw has raised prices a bit on the newer model....but if you buy multiple units there's a discount (think you can get three for $999 currently).

I owned Polk lsic, lsi 15 and lsi9 as surrounds. Never liked them for one reason, you could give them huge power or mid power and they never were dynamic. Warm sound with the inability to really fill a space.
I think you’d be better off with trying new speakers.

the denon 5308 is around 100 watts more powerful at 4 ohms then outlaw. You’ve reached the limit of those lsi polks. People like different speakers though but if what you’re hearing isn’t good enough it’s the speakers not the avr.

Im on the Outlaw site now and there doesn't appear to be any sort of discount unless I need a coupon code or something

I see bundle discounts right on the 2220's page in the lower right area....before they revised the site you had to go to another page I don't see now....

I've often felt similarly to be honest but i guess I always figured they just wanted more and more power. I guess I could try and sell the set for $1000 but I doubt that would leave me with enough coin for 5 speakers to replace them. Do you have any recommendations for replacements that might better suit me?

I see it now. Thank you. Kinda tricky...if you just plop 3 of em in your cart it doesn't apply a discount. Gotta be in the know : )

That sounds like the old Outlaw site :) You literally had to choose from the other page....I think I found the old page, they call it outlet and only have b-stock on it now, but they used to throw the bundle deals there, too. They have some annoying website issues IMO.

Speakers are totally dependent on what you like. Canton, kef, focal, Salk, revel, paradigm, Bowers, monitor audio and jbl are a few you can start with.

Thats a nice tool. So how many watts should I enter in though? I have never seen a bench test for 4ohm loads, 5 channels driven for my avr.
I posted the bench tests at S&V earlier....but they don't do 5ch 4 ohm loads, just 8 ohm. Just enter say 150 and see what you get....

I've seen those measurements and I think that was part of what gave me pause. Why do you suppose they don't do 5 channel tests at 4ohms. Makes me wonder if they figured the amps couldn't handle it?

I don't know....they may explain it somewhere but perhaps simply not to ruffle advertisers/brands? An all-channels driven rating isn't very realistic/useful, either. How often will you need max power in each and every speaker simultaneously?

I hear ya but they do post the 5 and 7 channels driven specs for 8 ohms though so it still begs the question I would think.

Might embarass a lot of amps, tho....do you run these full range or do you use a sub?

You should take the advice of your first sentence. Since you didn't like them that doesn't mean that the OP or anyone else doesn't like them. But you try to push your agenda. He already owns the speakers why would you go there when he's asking for amplification recommendations. SMH

I have a Denon 5308ci flagship and am on the fence about whether or not to add external amplification

Polk LSi surround system (the original LSi that were 4ohm nominal). 3x LSi9 for LRC 2x LSifx for surrounds.

I am not necessarily looking for any kind of audible improvement

I have had people on other forums tell me with confidence that the 5308ci is plenty robust to drive my speakers and that my fears are overblown so I am looking for some additional input.

I listen in a medium sized room and I rarely go further than taking the dial to -10 db with trims of -1.5.
I also have the LSi9's. 4- LSi9, 1- LSiC, 2-LSi7's in a 7.1 system. I powered the system with the Denon 4806 without issue never felt I was running the receiver too hard. I've also connected external amplification (200w) but notice no audible difference.
That being said based on your room size, based on your volume levels, your receiver will drive them without issue
