Someone asked Amir to attached his Revel M16 (86 dB/2.83V/1m), 6 ohm nominal to this little receiver. Well he did better than that, much better, as he responded:
So those who are on a tight budget yet are constantly tempted to add a big and back breaking 7X200 W Monolith amps perhaps should relax a little. Some AVR's internal amps and PS may be weak, light and small, but give them a fan or two you may not need an external amp, but as always it depends..
And if for those who don't know why Amir would pick the Salon 2 for such test, just ask
@Irvrobinson or
@AcuDefTechGuy .
@Irvrobinson, having heard from you for a while, hope all is great. We have had a conversation about the HDAM , the discrete opamp vs IC/chip OPA and iirc you didn't seem worry about your slimline not having those discrete opa. I guess your are right if you are on the measurements matter most camp. The HDAMless 3600 now ranks second to the $5,000 Emo RMC-2 prepro on ASR's test list. Only 1 dB separates the two!! Only in two channel obviously as the assign trick was used to get that result at the 2 V (RCA) level.
I bet you can count on the same good results for the slimline Marantz because its preamp section is virtually the same as Denon's.
