That is pretty much what I thought until I saw Warren and Sanders leading. I'm also afraid that Biden wouldn't have the balls to stand up to the socialist contingent in his party, but I think he's pretty much out of it.

It would be nice if the Republicans came out with a more practical healthcare plan, but alas, I suspect they think they have the election in the bag so long as Trump strikes a trade deal with China.
What possible trade deal with China would be worth the paper it's written on? They have utterly no respect for the rule of law.

I can’t believe that anyone is stupid enough to believe warren. her hand is so deep in the cookie jar that it’s silly she makes about 100,000 a year or whatever as a senator makes , but she’s worth over 300 million how does that add up
It only adds up that she’s got her hand in the illegal cookie jar and just making her self so rich every one of the Democrats are like that even Republicans
but I wouldn’t believe a goddamn word from any of the Democrats
and hell no to universal healthcare it would ruin the foundation of the United States and anyone who does not understand that is a plain out idiot

What do you suggest as a solution?
I don't know about a solution. If I did I'd be able to foresee the future, and if so I'd go buy a Powerball ticket, and not worry about this subject :)

I guess what mystifies me is that our neighbors, Canada, and Europe (UK, Germany, etc.) have national health plans and by every metric, are healthier and not going broke. So why not take the best of those plans and try them here?

I'm gonna bail on discussing this today. The Bears vs. Eagles game is starting soon and I'd like to enjoy it without getting agita :D

I agree with you, but the IMO the US electorate would view it as a big positive, especially in the states Trump needs to win.

Where on earth did you get that she's worth $300 million? Indeed, how does it add up? The salaray for senators and congresspeople is $174,000 per year with some additional for a few leadership positions. Seems like you just have your facts grabbed out of your ass.

Agreed. Her and her husband apparently have a net worth in the $12M range, which is probably a bit of an underestimate. So let's say $15M. Not exactly super-wealthy, but certainly well-off.

And likely would have been better off had she remained a professor at Harvard, much higher salary there. Quite a few wealthy senators and congresspeople, tho. Richest among them is Darrel Issa (R)....with a chunk of that coming from the sale of that connection to audio, DEI Holdings..

Issa is no longer a congressman.

I did get my facts wrong. I was thinking of Nancy Pelosi who is worth just over 100 million. My point is how do they get so rich being a public official?
I got all heated up with the healthcare for all talk. And got my facts and names wrong
So tell me how Pelosi got so wealthy?
So let me just say that I don’t trust any politician from any side

Yes! How awful this has taken so long. Even President Nixon knew we needed healthcare reform back in the 70's.

Your kidding right. Talk to half of America ( more over middle America) anyone over 30 with half a working brain that has been employed for over ten years, can attest to that fact. I'm lucky I admit, most all of my stuff is covered through the VA. But for the rest of my family, their not so lucky. Insurance premiums alone have nearly bankrupted half of America. The system may have not always been perfect, but it was pretty good and better than most countries. Like or not, the Obama administration screwed the whole health care system up. And it will be nearly impossible to get it back to normal. No way are insurance companies and the medical industry going to want to give up all that extra money they have been raking in.
It's just to bad we seem to have fallen into a two party system. Trading elections back and fourth not getting much done, except to keep taking more money from the people. Keep them on fighting dems vs repubs. It will be very difficult in this day in age to get a good president without a hidden agenda, or a majority of congress members who actually care about the people instead of they can pad their wallets. To much special intrest money and backdoor deals for them to give up.
Whether your a Trump fan or Trump hater, we should all be able to see and give him credit when he does something good, and also be able to scrutinize him when he does something bad. This being tied to one party or another, does nothing but tare us apart. One should view both sides of the news and be able to determine for him or herself who is feeding us a line of sh.... Take time to watch or record some of the congressional meetings and hearings. It can be very eye opening and a great comedy show to boot.
We all have our own views and opinions on politics on how we think and believe the system should be run. But the most important things is, once you give up on open dialogue, you'll never be able to sift out the good and bad ideas. Then will only remain, total chaos and anarchy.
This is after all, our country and we should all be proud to be Americans. Doesn't mean we have to like everything that goes on, just that we should work towards fixing the things we can. And be thankful we live in a place (for now) where we have the right and privilege's to voice our opinions.
So i will end this by saying, bless all you my fellow americans.
Your claim:
We had a great health care system till Obama stepped in and messed it up. Causing most people premiums to skyrocket 400% to 700%.
Historical Data:
HAExhibits3710SocialMedia18.png

Looks like the increase is about 30% for individual and 40% for family.

Now if you had single coverage in 2010 and are now paying for family coverage in 2019, I would estimate that would get you close to the low end of your statement - a 400% increase (and that might fit with your "anyone over 30" since many of them may have added families over those years)!

However, the main point is that, in general, the average rate of increase in premiums has been impressively consistent over the last 2 decades!

Why are people so quick to believe what they read on social media sites?
