Well sure enough it was the HDMI cable

Plugged 2 new BELKIN ULTRA HIGH SPEED cables and Dolby vision connected fine.

For those with my setup please be aware that the cable does matter at least with Apple it does

That just shows that the appleTV4k use the data bandwith its supposed to and the non-specification cable wasnt able to cope.

Good to learn that the cable was not adequate for the job. Your Apple TV did give you the right message indeed!

It's always good to substitute HDMI cables before considering any other possible issues.

So when I turn on Apple TV and get to the home screen, an on screen display comes on for like 10 seconds. See image. It shows the input and audio etc.

I believe it’s From the Marantz?

Is there a way to avoid this pop up altogether?

Is there a setting under the avr to bypass this pop up message?

I get something like that when I press the info button on my Denon. Might use the setup button on your remote and see what options you have in video/on screen display?

It's exactly what you see when you depress the Info button on your remote.

I have an SR5010 and it does the same thing. I doubt that you can annul that short display, but it has a positive feature: It tells you what is the Audio Source format and you can see whether or not your Audio Playback setting is compatible with the source.
In any case, that display time is rather short. It doesn't ruin anything.
