Im not sure. What does it say on the front, and is it the same cables you use for the bluray player, or isnt that 4k?

«Premium high speed» and «ultra high speed» are the full 4k ones. Real certified cables are also supposed to have a hologram/metal looking official sticker.

Did you do the appletv setup video and audio check HDMI connection test?

Yes connection test failed to find Dolby vision

I used the same cable for Sony 4k Blu player to Avr no issues there

It's weird

I keep noticing it tries to check video format and screen goes off for a second or two then displays Hdr+ icon on top right of screen

It does go black for a bit when changing to HDR modes.
Have you checked the reciever video settings to make sure it doesnt do anything?
And if firmware is updated in both reciever and tv pluss software updated on the appleTV 4k?

Did you look on the front of the cable pack what it says?
Also i guess you have reconnected the cables to check that they are properly inserted.

I dont know what to get at best buy, live in Norway so no best buy here.
But before getting a new cable try connecting the appletv directly to the TV and see if any problems with 4k HDR/dolby vision.

Mainly the TV yes. Reciever should not do any processing more then whats needed for on screen display of volume etc.

I dont see any actual rating or official certification on that cable so its impossible to know what it can handle. Some non-certified cables are fine and some not.

It's odd though because prior to adding the Apple TV I had the same exact cable hooked direct to TV and Netflix ran beautifully. No issues. I got Dolby vision and screen never dropped off

So maybe Apple TV doesn't like those cables?

Or the reciever or the tv.
But try appletv direct to tv to see if it works or is the same.

Then its probably not happy with the cable.

For movienight tonight i guess you can use bluray or turn on arc again for the tv netflix app.

I feel for you Fred. When the common solutions don't yield the results you're looking for it's really frustrating. I'm leaning toward something not being happy with the cable, but it's hard to say without being there and running through all the settings.

I suggest that you get a new certified ultra high-speed cable. That might solve the problem.

Also remember you need 2 cables, one to reciever from appletv and on from reciever to the tv.
