Dream Separates System

Dang, that's nice looking stuff. I don't care if its practical or super efficient.
If you've got stuff like that, it needs to be seen. This is a thread about dream separates not price performing big box specials. That's stuff that belongs in dreams.

If other folks here have more stuff like this, even if it has the dreaded tubes in it, I think we need to have a look. As long as we're dreaming...........
Exactly and to that, tubes (pre) and SS amplification have always been my go-to combination

The closet has 4 PCs, ATI AT3005 and AT2005 amps, 1 Denon AVP-A1HDCI.

What's the recommended temperature setting?

It seems many internal component fans are programmed to turn on when above 85F, so I figured 80F would be adequate for the room.
I know one guy who works with computer servers that also has AC going to his closet, pretty sure his thermostat is set at 60-65F.

My concern is simply for the internal temps experienced by your electronics when the ambient temp is 80F. Why have a dedicated zone for cooling your electronics, and not really use it? Not my business, but I do care about the longevity of your gear!

I guess at least they're both Silver looking.

But I think the Pass Labs Preamp looks pretty great.

So why not Pass Labs Preamp + Pass Labs Amp?

Wait..... looks great, but sound.. see post#5 in the linked post:

Sorry, Mikado, not directed at you at all, I always want to try a Passlab but got too many amps already to justify the spending. I finally settled to build Nelson Pass's 5 W DIY class A kit.

Tubes Preamp + Solid State Amp ?

I figured guys would go for one or the other, not both. :D

What about "Optimal Operating Temperature"?

I guess 60F falls within the range and would not hurt since it's not freezing or anything.

The temp depends on how much you have in the closet. I wanted it to be AC cooled, but it didn't turn out that way. I keep an eye on my hard drive and cpu temps. As long as they are well within operating range there won't be any issues.

Backblaze or someone did a study many years ago to find out what temps hard drives lasted the longest at and surprisingly it was right in the middle of their operating range. Too hot or too cold made them fail faster. It was a surprise to me for sure.

Optimal Operating Temp is my concern, if the ambient temp is 80F, what is the internal temp?

You may be well within the Optimum range, we just don't know for sure. Just thought I'd call attention to it in the event 80F is too warm.

Oh alright, I'll play.

But the rest of the time, I'm am pro-science, pro-common sense and practice frugality.

Posting on here, you caught me off-guard.

Classé of Canada
SSP-800 SURROUND SOUND PROCESSOR
CA-5300 FIVE-CHANNEL AMPLIFIER

Yes, they are still in business.

(Reality check: My Denon X4400H AVR is just as nice and it's paid for. ;))
Classé was practically closed down by Bowers & Wilkins, but Sound United acquired it from B & W in January. The Montreal Office was also supposed to reopen:

Classé was indeed closed for good. But yes, Sound United rescued the company and brought them back to life. Time will tell what kind of products and success will transpire from this resurrected brand name.

I’m glad to see Classe still alive.

I think they’ll have to decide which Room EQ System to add along with all the updates.

Since the new ownership, I believe the Classe components are going to be built in Japan at the Denon/Marantz factory instead of China during the B&W ownership.

So they'll essentially be a higher end Denon/Marants division?

I believe so. The higher end Denon/Marantz products are built in Japan and I read that the Classe products will be built in the same D+M Group Japanese facility.

I look forward to seeing Audyssey XT32 DEQ in a Classe. :D

Classe is on the Sound United website (Our Brands) along with Denon, Marantz, Def Tech, Boston Acoustics, Polk.

I hope Sound United/Classe keeps the aesthetics of the SSP-800 and CA-5300, but updates everything else including Audyssey XT32 DEQ. :D

Those Classé, Levinson, McIntosh and Krell components are beautiful and very well made, but for my money, I'll just take the AVR-X4400H.

I'll bet you can't hear the difference. ;)

Remember the $18,000 Moon Audio CP-8 Pre-pro as a rebadged Denon AVR-2809 Receiver? :D

Now that's one pretty Denon. ;)

I bet the CP-9 will be a rebadged Denon X4400. :D

Makes me wonder if the McIntosh MX122 is a rebadge Marantz pre-pro?
