Dream Separates System

Yeah, price-no-object.

Just one dream electronic system.

What kind of new house/room ? Just bigger with acoustic treatments like those commercial treated rooms?
Yes, that's fair, even a dream has to be reasonable.

No, I have not
So your dream system is based on your dream of a better sound? :D

For a flatter FR sound system?

All these Room Correction graphs look pretty flat.

Does the flattest FR graph win? :D

Not just FR. Dirac does phase correction as well.

I'd like to mess with Dirac as well. I've only used Audyssey so something else would be cool.

Dream system? Man, there are just so many.

The JBL Synthesis SDP-75 is the one you want. They worked directly with Trinnov (hence the shared chassis) but left out the unreliable/overly complex/ineffective circuits and software Trinnov uses.

On the more realistic side of the pricing scale, I am very excited to see the new Emotiva! I was near sold on the Yamaha until Gene commented on the painfully slow switching, which is not an issue on my Yamaha AVR?!?!
Good to know I guess (since this is just dreaming). I'd want M2s all around anyways :) Emotiva always seems to have issues....

Too bad the Harmon pro (DBX) correction system isn't in any of the H/K receivers. It's works quite well. You can choose your amp and speaker model and it will apply stored settings accordingly. Pretty sweet system.

Almost enough budget to get my dream pre-pro, the Trinnov Altitude 16 channel version :)
Well, since OP has since removed our theoretical budget constraints, I'm stepping up my vote to the Trinnov Altitude 32!

At the bottom is 'Room for Improvement' - HDMI switching is cited as a complaint. I just find that odd that the switching in my 3060 AVR is the most reliable I've ever used. I've had occasions where too many switches on some older Denon's (pretty sure this happened on the 4520) lost me picture or sound and had to be restarted along with the source.
I think it was the Denon AVR4311!
The 4520 has been a rock!

I'd need a new house for that one, so glad the budget got lifted :)
$30K Pre-pro?

Geez, give people an inch, they take a mile! :D :D

It's sweet looking.

I'm still not changing my votes from the McIntosh, though. :D

Oh alright, I'll play.

But the rest of the time, I'm am pro-science, pro-common sense and practice frugality.

Posting on here, you caught me off-guard.

Classé of Canada
SSP-800 SURROUND SOUND PROCESSOR
CA-5300 FIVE-CHANNEL AMPLIFIER

Yes, they are still in business.

(Reality check: My Denon X4400H AVR is just as nice and it's paid for. ;))

Wait, Classe is still in business?

So you're going from Audyssey XT32 to no room correction on that Classe?

This Classe is outdated.

You sure about that? :D

Yes, it's probably outdated. They (Classé) would argue against that though. And it is only 5 channels. As far as room correction goes, it's been my experience (in my former audiophile world) that the dominant attitude towards room eq is to do it the old fashioned way with an SPL meter and various physical room filter devices. Wouldn't you say?

If you could own a dream separates system (1. Pre-pro + Amp, 2. Integrated Amp, 3. Preamp + Amp), what would it be (only one system) ?

That's right, no room for AVRs here. :D

For me right now, it would be the $7K McIntosh MX122 Audyssey XT32 Pre-pro and $7K McIntosh MC205 Amp.

I am with you. I have had a life long obsession with McIntosh and them blue meters.
I've never been able to spring for one, but, hope springs eternal.
It isn't about performance or sound or resale: its about them meters.

I feel like I’ve heard from enough room EQ systems to not put too much stock into them.

Every company thinks their Room EQ does the best job.

Audyssey DEQ is the only EQ that has shown me a significant improvement - just the DEQ, not the Audyssey part.

That’s why of all the Dream Pre-pros out there, I would still get the McIntosh MX122 for the DEQ.

I set my system to Audyssey Bypass L/R + DEQ.

I don’t think my Denon AVP-A1HDCI is outdated either. :D

I have rather pedestrian sensibilities and believe dreaming allows for vintage gear to be perfectly restored!
I don't think dream separates would sound better, so I am purely looking at gear that matches my sense of aesthetics! I love the clean lines of this Denon combo, and the silver color gives it a "lightness of being" which I find refreshing in this world of Black Darth Vader Audio Tech.

As a practical matter, I would need to use miniDSP for EQ and crossovers for a fine sounding 2.2 music system.
No need for Dynamic EQ because I would always listen at my "dream" SPL using my miniDSP "dream" EQ settings.:p

We're still at the bleeding edge with all this tech, so entities like JBL Synthesis can easily repay the R&D costs and then we can probably expect to see some trickle down with their Room EQ.

It is my understanding that these 16+ channel processors are able to adapt to most any 3D space and send sound to any number of those channels regardless of the media being encoded in an immersive 9+ channel mix, or plain Dolby. That appeals to me because it sounds somewhat future-proof!

I believe in Emotiva, and knowing their factory is only a few hours away gives me further piece of mind. Their initiative to keep most manufacturing in TN is something I just feel like supporting so I look forward to their new processor coming out - even though I am a long way off from going above 7 ch, I'll still take the plunge!
