@KEW, Kurt, English is not my first language so everytime I see a new word, I try to look it up, understand and hopefully remember for next time. The last one is not very reliable, especially first time around.
Still, I feel that you may want to use word unperturbed, not nonplussed in this sentence makes more sense for me.

In colloquial usage, nonplussed is closer to what he means. You would be correct if he were going by oxford dictionary usage. Unperturbed has a bit different colloquial sense. It means more like "not bothered by something bad." An example would be something like, "The woman was unperturbed by the dead body and continued down the path."

Well, hmm, maybe if Milla Jovovich or Carrie Anne Moss played the character of JJ, I might have enjoyed it more.

So perhaps it really just comes down to liking the actors/actresses- well, a combination of everything.

Krysten Ritter nails it as Jessica Jones. I doubt Jovavich has the acting chops to pull of that role. Anyway, the actress can only play the role how it was written. You are not asking for a different actress, you are asking for a differently written character. If Jessica wasn't a cynical drunk, she would be entirely different, and therefore the series would be a different show altogether.

I have apparently been misusing that term for years!!!
I edited/fixed it using "not impressed" which better matches my intent.

BTW, your efforts are not wasted, from the years on the forum I have been reading your posts, I would have never guessed English was a second language.
You may have made some mistakes, but if you did, I interpreted them as the mistakes/typos of someone who spoke English as their birth language!

There is much truth to that for sure.

However, I don't think Ritter is any better of an actress than Jovavich.

But I think it's also the actress, at least a small factor. I guess there is an actress for every guy.

I'm definitely drawn to darkness, but my kind of dark characters are ones who are more intelligent and/or extremely self-motivated and driven, not inebriated sleazy sloth characters.

The "self loathing" is something which people often don't have much patience for (unless they are hot chicks with attitude)!

Reading this it sounds (reasonably) like the show is a pile of BS!

However, for me, the show still has decent entertainment value and provided a good "brain dump" at the end of the day. I haven't started Season 2 yet. I'm watching "The Expanse" (on Amazon) Prime TV and Sherlock (the one with Benedict Cumberbatch) first!

Loved the Expanse, but BC's Sherlock was absolutely awesome for 3 seasons, and then went from awesome to terrible so quickly in the 4rth season. Very much disheartening.
If you like UK's shows, the current season of Endeavour is great as well as all it's previous seasons. Especially if you liked the original "Inspector Morse" series. I personally enjoy it's very much dry and often sarcastic British sense of humor.
Other two UK's must-watch shows are Peaky Blinders and Taboo

Oh, man, I haven't seen Sherlock S04 yet.

I like Peaky Blinders - very hardcore.

I have seen Taboo S01E01. Pretty decent so far.

Definitely all highly motivated driven characters.

I just finished season 2. I think Jessica Jones is the only Marvel property that I actually really enjoy. A lot of people complain about the pacing, but I like it. It moves at a slow but steady pace and gives the characters some room to breath in. I like the characters more than any other Marvel show. Hogarth was great in this season, and I liked what they did to Malcom and Tricia. Even Tricia's mom was improved as a character; while still not likable, she did get slightly more interesting. I loved the dialogue from all characters. I also thought the season's antagonist was very good, perhaps not as charismatic as Kilgrave, but definitely more sympathetic by the end. This season has a lot more moral ambiguity than most insipid Marvel garbage, and I can see that being a turnoff for simpletons. I also liked that they pretty much ignored the rest of the Marvel universe, as I pretty much loath the rest of the Marvel universe. So many good performances in this season! I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Agreed. Thanks for the reminder that it is time to tune into netflix.

My rating of season 2: ★★★☆☆

Just finished binge watching Season 2. Vague possible spoilers follow I suppose, although they're more along the lines of a warning not to get your hopes up than outright revelations of plot lines.

I was surprised that, aside from a brief insignificant appearance by Foggy, there were no crossover cameos, no favors called in with the Super Friends. I kept wondering why Jessica didn't call in a solid with Luke Cage when the night was at its darkest. The mistrust, secrecy, and lack of communication among the closest allies in the series were old from beginning to end, and seemed contrived and implausible. However, I did enjoy the plot twist in the middle of the season very much. Hogarth's story arc was actually more entertaining and more satisfying than that of the title character. Carrie-Anne Moss gets the MVP award for the season, even though her story was mostly unrelated to Jessica's. The elevator scene in the epilogue was predictable, but it does make me eager to watch Season 3 or Defenders Season 2, whichever occurs next.

Ultimately, I enjoyed season 2 of Jessica Jones more than the first season, mostly because the antagonist of season 2 was more palatable. That could be attributed to David Tennant's exceptional performance in season 1 that Killgrave was that much more despicable, though. Maybe it's just because violence and death seem less cruel than mind control and the theft of free will. In any case, although it was good enough that I watched it through to the end, I'm probably not likely to re-watch this season any time soon.

So, So I got today to S02E11 and finished it. I gotta say that old guest cameo and whole schizo thing is distracting me from the main storyline, making it much psychedelic and less "I'm a superhero, but I'm also a real person with real issues" thing which was running basically underlying theme until ep11. If I want to watch unreliable narrator psychedelic superhero tv show, I might as well tune to Legion.
Two more ep to go till the end, but now I can see your 3/5 is closer to my own current opinion, unlike until now I considered it solid 4/5.

I don't know. That sounds like a pretty negative review there.

Not as brutal as my take, but just wait until you finish the whole season.
