room is approx 11x11

i watch a lot of action movies, want the best room shaking bass.

i am looking at the hsu mk5 for around $600, goes down to 18
but maybe its overkill, and more th an i want to spend for such a small room

what about the speedwoofer? $400 and goes down to 20

id rather save the $200, but then again i dont want any regrets

Depends on your goals. I'd start with the best sub you can afford....square rooms have extra acoustic challenges...

The Speedwoofer looks like a nice little sub, but it isn't in the same performance ballpark as the VTF-2. If you look at the burst measurements of the speedwoofer vs the VTF-2, the VTF-2 averages about two to three times as much output as the speedwoofer, meaning it is two to three times as powerful. The speedwoofer would be more properly compared to the VTF-1, not the VTF-2.

Another nice thing about the VTF-2 are the tuning options. There's a lot you can do in a difficult room with a sub that has variable tuning. You can even go sealed if you want. You might get some nice room gain from your small space.

thanks for the recs on the hsu but i wont be going that route. their customer service is subpar as far as im concerned. i email and it takes days to get a response, and they are very short. its like they dont want my money. i guess they sell enough product to not care their customer service stinks.

i want to go with another company.

what about the klipsch 112sw? its on sale for $300 including wireless kit

though i have heard the klipsch 115 can be had for $400 with wireless kit. maybe i should wait for that?

A Hsu subwoofer will likely blow away anything from Klipsch.

Have you tried calling them? Kevin usually answers the phone there and he's great to work with. I've called and hit him up over at avs forum and he's always been more than helpful. IME Hsu has really good customer service and support. They helped me dial my subs in and I'm very happy with the results.

I'd say Hsu customer support is more knowledgeable and generally better than Klipsch's in any case....emailing isn't very often a good way to judge a company IMO, picking up a phone is usually better (and some have pretty good online chat support like SVS or Power Sound Audio).
