Sealed 15 would be the easy way out. Removing the baffle was considered...then the mind wonders...four 8" drivers per cab...two 12" per cab...six 6.5" drivers per cab...no... one 12" with a port...boring...:(:D
I guess we all have collections of old speakers around :D
Are you strictly looking to convert it to a sub?... Or if just looking for a fun project? Maybe just do a restore of the original?
Old speakers were made from that old particle/flake board crap. Just wondering if it's strong enough for use as a sub? Either way have fun!

War of the Worlds, Subs only at around the 21 min mark is a little terrifying. Played it back at -5 and had to turn down the volume since things were falling off the walls, the whole house was shaking, and I'm pretty sure the imminent collapse of the my dwelling was quickly approaching. The LMS drivers almost never move more than a few mm. They were dancing just now. GF is pissed. End experiment with 106db peak subs only.

Sadly, unless I manage to sell one of the items I have for sale, it will only be a single. Although I should be getting invoiced soon. :D She'll be happy when that shows up at the door

Our maybe she's just tired of Fuzz making the walls shake with his _subs_...
I don't know what she's complaining about. With the increased airspace of the townhouse, I can't even make furniture bounce anymore. All I can do is make the place shift on the foundation. How lame.

Flared ports from Parts Express are pretty easy. It's a cheap and easy way to get you more LFE for H/T without needing pro amps and EQ's. TLS made me see the light on this. The first question is ... how much you got? You have two cabinets, right? What's your budget for drivers? The alignments I'm getting from TLS take me to mid 20's with a low Q in a cabinet around that size for just over $200 in drivers (dual 10's) per side. 2 sides. 450 bucks or so for drivers total. Why don't you build my build? It's a good build.

But yeah, how much you got? :D

Kudos on either ignoring or missing the insinuation. ;) :D

Out of the top 50 highest grossing movies of all time, I've seen 49 of them. I'd be itching for 50/50 if the one wasn't a twilight movie. I saw one of the earlier one's and wanted to jab my eyes out and blow out my eardrums within about 30mins, but I paid for that ticket gosh darn it so I stayed and finished the movie.

That'll make a wonderful sound refrigerator! ;-)
I could be anywhere in the 6 to 10-12 cubes range. If I go somewhere in the 10-12 range, I'll pick up around 8-9 db under 10Hz over a 6 cube box. That would put me at an actual box size of like 12-15 cubes with bracing. She ain't gonna be little, but she'll tickle you in all the right places ;)

To offer my 2 cents, I'd lean for the middle/lower end of that range, say ~8.5 cubes. It's always tempting to go for the big box and high low-end efficiency, but in the end you'll lose out on top end performance as there's only so much power you can safely apply before risking over-excursion.
