Ahh, Cerwin Vega. My brother had a pair of those. Nice college speakers for sure. :)

On a different note, I ordered a globe that is suspended in air by an electromagnet. Magnets! I love 'em.

I looked into that for about a minute.

I'm gonna pull the drivers and do some figurin' this weekend.

They are fairly solid bit without seeing the insides who knows. I'm sure the baffle will need support even if it is fairly beefy for the day.

If it isn't easy I'll leave them alone. Just an idea to look into for fun.

Well Uncle Oscar defines cheap as being free...

The baffle is 1" so the recess is only 1/2" and not super rigid. It's also not a full circle so the 15" drivers mounting ring would have to be trimmed. The cabinet has no bracing. Most likely going to the elephant speaker graveyard...

I really need to get a haircut, my wife claims that my hairstyle starts to look like Lambert in Pinchcliffe grand prix (Norwegian: Ludvig in Flåklypa grand prix) =:-o

Yep, it does. Just wait until it happens to you. :)
Well in terms to how many times I've traveled around the sun, you may be right. My body seems to disagree with you from a more practical standpoint. Specifically the amount of ice I have on various parts of my person after doing exactly nothing except getting up and going to work :p

I've had my share of sports injuries and dumba$$ injuries, but last year was the first time I've ever started getting hurt just being alive. This doesn't bode well if this is only going to get worse.

Unwanted advice served up fresh. Figure out a way to cut that baffle out. Put cleats just behind where it use to be in order to be able to fasten a new baffle. That will also allow access for additional bracing. I wouldn't be so bent on a 15" sealed design. For the money I think you get a lot more sub if you give up the lowest frequency and the highest SPL. A port buys a lot of LF capability and if you're giving up the highest SPL, you can let your port size determine max SPL and power requirements.

It sounds backwards but that will get you a working sub that covers 80% of you listener needs for 20% of the cost not to mention avoiding the work of a slot port. I like the cabinets! I was just talking to YAA about finishes being the worst. Those cabinets have grills! Dude, you're half way there! :)

Sealed 15 would be the easy way out. Removing the baffle was considered...then the mind wonders...four 8" drivers per cab...two 12" per cab...six 6.5" drivers per cab...no... one 12" with a port...boring...:(:D
