AcuTechDefGuy & Warrior - that is not the intention at all. Pioneer SP-FS52 Towers(x2), SP-C22(x1), SP-BS22-LR(x2) are not available here.

These are definitely on my list as they are ranked numero uno on almost all the speaker related sites in this range.

tyhjaarpa, i checked some of your recommended brands - MartinLogan & KEF really stand out.

I also checked:
Focal - Dme 5.1 - 5.1 Speaker System - Black (AMAZON $1,249).
Focal Sib&Co Series 5.1 Jet Black Home Theater Speakers

Is there any diff b/w the two focals?

@alibasham

Understood, sorry for the confusion on the Pioneers. That is unfortunate!

The two Focal systems you listed above make me weary as I have not had any good experiences with micro speakers. Focal makes incredible high end products, I actually was not aware they made speakers like those...

I do not recommend any Polk products, period! They have a huge fan base, especially here in the U.S., but their sound quality can be beaten at every price point!

What is the actual 'shopping' experience like, in Pakistan? You listed that Desert Sound company, is there a store to go to, or are you limited to internet shopping? It is very difficult for us to know what exact models are available to you.

Given your interest in quality sound, have you considered starting with a 2.1 system? Any receiver will do fine! But this way you can slowly purchase your system, and get the speakers you REALLY want, instead of settling for lesser quality packages?

What do you guys think?

How many seats will these speakers serve?

I am not familiar with the brand, but looking at the website they appear to be very capable! My only concern is the low 2 kHz crossover on the tweeter, as these are not top of the line tweeters, that low crossover may induce some 'beaming' and cause you to have a narrow 'sweet spot'. Does this make sense?

The price sounds fair for a complete system. Are you able to audition them in your home? Just in case they don't live up to your expectations?

i had them auditioned.

These were kind of average.

Base was comparable to polk audio. the sharpness / crispness was better than polk but inferior to sib & cub. i googled to find this specific speakers; well these are rated average; with reviewer recommending that better speakers can be obtained in the same usa prices.

Also these are discontinued products; with better models as replacements.

Any comments on these:

Boston Acoustics M-Series 5.1 Floorstanding Speaker Package (Black) - US$ 1,689/-

I haven't heard them. But they look kind of interesting on the net.

I am unable to find any normal reviews. There are old reviews when only the Front L & R were priced $2,000 per pair / individual unit. Now these seem much cheaper.

Kindly provide feedback.

For instance I have been quoted $650 for a DENON based 5.1 system with an obsolete receiver. Another shop quoted SKS 4A00 ONKYO based set for $750 etc.
Just a brief word on "obsolete" receivers.

The differences from year to year are generally features and have little effect on the sound quality. Unless you really, really need a feature on the current years model, you can well save a few bucks (or whatever you call them there ;) ) by getting last years model.

FYI, I bought an "obsolete" Denon 2802 when the 2803's came out in 2003. I paid about one half the list price. It's still working and sounding fine.

Any comment on my original query?
