Pioneer Elite VSX-43 opinions please

Guys, my local Best Buy has a couple Pioneer Elite VSX-43's for $249 Open Box. They are in their original boxes so i couldn't inspect yet for physical condition, but will if it is worth buying. I'm weary of Open Box models from BB but at $249 this seems like a bit of a steal.
I'm thinking of replacing my older Onkyo TX-SR505 AVR soon with something that has more up to date features

Any opinions for this specific Pioneer model?

Also, it would be driving 6 ohm Mirage OMD-5's and OMD C1 for front and center, and Mirage Nanosats (rears) in a approx. 10'x 12' room.

Get it! You can always return it. I've bought open box from BB before with no problems. Also find out the warranty that comes with it. You can also do a extended warranty and they give you 30 days to do it if you like it. Let us know how it goes

My only apprehension with this receiver is that i'm worried that i would be making a lateral move ONLY in terms of sound quality compared to what i have now, not an upgrade. Maybe i'm wrong about that?

Looking at the feature set it looks like a nice upgrade if you need a bit more power, 4k, airplay, wi-fi, 3D and newer eq it's looks worthwhile.

Thanks. You're definitely right about the added features and just a bit more power but that could be debatable. I'm not sure about the EQ though, yes the Audyssey 2EQ is old now but also the PIO uses the basic version of it's MCACC, which only has 5 bands.

Budget? As far as the wife is concerned, $0 . However, I've been keeping my eye on Accessories4less and other sites for the best AVR possible under $400.

I really don't see why you that Pioneer won't be good enough. I see you can buy it new for 299 at BB.
