Canadian/US customs does not care what brand of electronics u bring in. TV is a TV to them, CD player is a cd player to them, etc.. Just provide a legit invoice to proove the price of the item. They charge u the appropriate taxes.

My $1500 Denon DVD still works till this day. That's 5 yrs in counting. Love the PAL to NTSC conversion part of it. It's also region free so all my Asian PAL disc works on my NTSC lcd.

What's your budget. People will get a better idea. I, myself, use Panamax and Belkin PureAV. I prefer component size power conditioners. It sits nicely on my audio/tv rack.

Only the Sony Vaio AW line display 1080p res. I would avoid Sony because when it breaks it'll cost u an arm and a leg to fix. Sony is so propietory. Take a look at HP's HDX line. The 18.4" one displays 1080p and has a bd drive.

Since you're matching components then the Yammie is not bad of a player. I have the Elite 05FD myself. Denon is coming out with a $800 BD player next month not sure if you're interested in it. Some people will say, get something with profile 2.0. The Yammie is only profile 1.1.

Because I will only buy a BD player from Pioneer Elite or Denon. I have no problem buy a new player every yr or so. I'm also not rich. I just like my toys.

I'll pass and keep my Elite 05FD.
