I didn't read into what the current update was for Yamaha, but ever since it was updated my normal "movie watching" sound level which is -20, doesn't seem to be as loud as it was previous to downloading the update. I've had to turn it up to -15 to match what -20 used to sound like. Has anybody else noticed anything similar since that update a couple weeks ago?

Tell your kids to stop screwing around with your manual speaker Channel Levels and Remote Control. :D

In fact, hide your remote and just use your iPhone as the MusicCast remote like I do. My physical remote doesn't even have any batteries in it - hidden in the closet.

I set mine to reflect ~ 80dB (about +5.0 above the standard Automatic Setting), so my "usual" level is always about -30.0.

-20.0 would usually be extremely loud on my Yamaha.

Hahaha! I think it was just the movie itself. I tried another movie and it was very loud even at -30. Or maybe it's just my ears are going bad.... hahaha. All settings have been fixed. I did increase the Atmos overhead by .5. So we'll see if that helps with things. My overhead seemed "light" lately.

0.5? Live a little. Jeez. Make it a full Calorie 1.0, not half a Calorie. :D

Ok, I had it 1.5 and turned it up to 3 for all of them. I definitely notice a difference! haha :D
That’s what I’ve been saying for years. Audio mixing isn’t an exact science. You gotta do whatever it takes to get your system sounding at its best.

These mixers will turn the levels too low or too high whether it’s Atmos or dialogue or bass.

I'm going to turn my bouncy "Atmos" speakers up by like 5db and see if that makes them useful.

Indeed, and adjust to taste.
