Video discs can have various signals on them. A feature may have a 1.0 mono track with messages or previews with 2.0 or 5.1 tracks.

Concert discs may contain a 2.0 track as well as multichannel Dolby, DTS or PCM tracks. If playing a 2.0 track in Pure Direct mode using a Yamaha receiver, there will be no signal output to the subwoofer. Switch to Straight mode and the 2.0 signal will be bass managed and the subwoofer will be active.
Playing around with that little Droid AVR turned you into Jedi!! ;)

BINGO!! Great recommendation, that did the trick.
All you had to do was jump on Yamaha website. You would have found All the information you needed. But than again Yamaha's terminology can be very confusing to some. Ask a Jedi aka @Trebdp83 gets one layman terminology explained! Just remember, this may Not be the Droid you're looking for. En-JOY!:D. Oink oink. Onkyo! Lol

I like it. Keep the same model and just improve on them with firmware.

Do you feel like your Yamaha is still a “new” model since it doesn’t look like they’ll be releasing the next model for some time- maybe 2030? :D

Whereas if they released a new model number every year, your AVR model would seem “old” the minute you buy it.

I would easily go for upgrades on older avrs in fact I’d pay for it to an extent it would be cheaper firmware updates sometimes have issues but a usb upgrade would be cool if you could pick and choose what you could add or take away features . I did have a Yamaha tech hook up to my A3020 and try to fix it one time over the internet while I was on the phone with him . I seen sub menus I never knew was there and it’s probably a good thing I can’t access them lol .

My RX-A8A is probably my best purchase ever : it’s still Yamaha top of the line after multiple years and it’s now 1000$ more expensive than when I purchased it

Yamaha should be releasing new machines every 5-6 years. It’s horrible they haven’t released a new AVP. They need to compete against every other company that has a 16ch processor. Even if it was priced at $5k, it would be a hit. All sound codecs, brand new processor, new look and design, hdmi 2.1, Dirac, 4 subwoofer outlets, the works. With Yamaha’s resources, they should easily be able to create this machine.

Unfortunately with the trade markets being so volatile right now they are probably wise to wait until the storms die down a bit.

But I agree that they should do this I definitely wish they would do this. You could get everything you mentioned except for Dirac.

Id imagine they would not want to get off of YPAO I think that's what you call it?

I was hoping for a CX A5300 but got tired of waiting and went with the Monolith HTP-1.

The HTP-1 cannot be beat for the money right now when it comes to the AVP market. I'm really enjoying the HTP-1 But I really miss my Yammie 5200 that was an awesome AVP :)

Yamaha will probably wait until Trump is out of office before releasing any more models, AVR or AVP. :D

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I’m still loving my CX-A5100/MX-A5000 and my RX-A3080.

Screw that, Yamaha can release a new AVP right this second! haha!

Speaking of AVP's, how is that Marantz AV10 doing?

I'd be a-ok if they dropped YPAO and went with Dirac. Or at least gave the option. With almost every other company adding Dirac to their lineup, I think Yamaha should follow suit.

Did Monolith release a new(er) HTP-1 within the last year?

Yamaha makes excellent and affordable AVRs. I now have 3. I picked up a used RX-V2500 for $25. Puts out 130 WPC at 8 ohms. I’m using it to power 2 sets of speakers with subs. One indoors and one outside. I Like the options with different subwoofer control set for each set of speakers. An oldie but goody.

Id rather they went with Dirac as well. At least Audyssey. According to Gene this last version of YPAO is better but still behind Audyssey and Dirac

They are not planning a new htp-1. They are planning on adding Dirac ART they were beta testing for it or were last year. I also hope they add on true wide support and not just wide synthesis .

But Dirac last year shut down everyone implementing Dirac ART and haven't said when it will be released even a year later. Storm Audio is the only that has it

Right now Monolith has gone radio silent on the AVS thread for the HRP-1 and after the tarriff announcement they are our of stock until next year. That doesn't look good to me

If Monolith doesn't make it through this I plan on buying the Maranyz AV 10 and using my HTP-1 as a back up :)

The AV10 is doing great. They keep selling pretty fast whenever I check their inventory.

I swear - I checked last week and there were 10+ in stock. I just checked and now there’s ZERO in stock.

It seems like whenever they get more in, they sell them pretty fast.

I gave my Rx-V2500 away a few years back. I'm still kicking myself. That was a damn fine AVR and solid as rock.
