I’m just pulling your leg.

I myself would be hesitant to buy a refurbished receiver, even an open box “as new”.
Depends on the warranty and if they are known to honor it I buy used at Bjorns all the time but that's different they have there own shop in the store

Hey guys guess what. Regardless of this stuff...I know this will be hard for some of you to understand but....I AM LOVING MY A6A!!!! :D :D :D
Oh I'm loving my RX-A4A. It isn't going anywhere. Did Gene post up the crosstalk numbers on the A6A? He did stated the Pre-Amp measured out state of the art, plus the amp measured out well also if I remember right.

The old RX-A2060 that I have is probably the crown jewel of the Yamahas. Probably a collectors item. LOL :)

I have no idea, after reading Gene's report and determining that it was nothing that I was going to have a problem with in the real world, I quit worrying about it. Personally I have had my unit since the beginning of November and have put a ton of hours on it at this point. There is nothing that is making me need/want to return it. If some thing better comes out in a year or two I can always go that route. I upgraded from a RX-V3900 and got tired of waiting and waiting and waiting. At $2300 it's not that big of a deal to me. Hell I pissed more than that away last weekend on a party I had.... :D

About umm 5 years ago I picked up a Yamaha TSR-7790 for 299.99 plus 10 bucks for shipping on Accessories4less. Came with a 1 year warranty. My oldest Son has it in his bedroom setup, give it to him about umm 3 months ago. It sold for 849.00 new back when it came out in 2015. Pre-Amp outs for all channels, just didn't have Atmos or DTS-X.

Try doing that in Vegas or better yet Monte Carlo. Now that's some high $$$ schtuff!!!
Did that in New Orleans back in 2007. Was in the dam Gulf of Mexico most of the year. So in-between EX's and Rida's. Got a hook-up with an escort in NO, that lil 3 day weekend set me back around 7K with room and all. Still to this day, think of that lil hot tamale. Yes they are real, and yes they are expensive. I have a friend who got his last wife from the Philippines. Cost him over 11k just to get her here in the USA. Also another friend I have got his last wife from Russia. He's 62, she 34. So yeah you can get refurbished women.;)

Because you have to turn up the MASTER VOLUME at times?

That’s one of the most common misconceptions.

ASR got about 264W x 2Ch into 4 ohms and S&V got about 294W x 2Ch. It’s a beast.

Sure, Yamaha enforce heavy duty protection circuits, but that‘s for our own good and probably improves reliability because of that.
The A300 is certainly a beast and I love it but I should add it was initially driving a pair of Vienna Acoustic Mozarts as my L/R Fronts. They are 4 ohm and they sounded hungry for more power at both the low and high end. So I now have a Parasound 2125 amp powering those and the sound field is awesome.

I am only looking for a new AV now because of a 4k TV and the general advances in sound processing tech in the last 11 years. So the choice right now is between the A6A and the Denon x4700H.

Its still very disappointing to read the 3080 and 1080 reviews, especially at the end of a "mature" product run.
Every single Yamaha that Amir measured has SINAD 82dB and below. He measured about 5 models. Plus 66 dB from Gene on A6A. All Denons/Marantz are 92-103 dB in Amir's chart. Also, he mostly measures 2-channels only.

What I got out of it is this.

1. This was a refurbished unit, not brand new
2. THD+N was 0.008%, which is excellent in my book. You won’t hear any distortion even from 1 inch away.
3. Max power output is excellent. I think he got about 264W x 2Ch into 4 ohms. Sound & Vision Magazine got 294W x 2Ch from a previous RX-3070or 3060 or something.

So REAL WORLD takeaway message: It‘s great. But if you try to do a Torture test on the bench, it will likely go into PROTECTION MODE because Yamaha Engineers put stringent protection circuits on Yamaha AVR.
Refurb units on complex electronics are sold at a discount with reduced warranty because they are not defect free. They'd either have to spend hours and hours on a diagnostic or just start replacing boards to rectify an issue which they hope some customers can live with or something else (which doesn't affect the real world user experience). Amir Majicmoomoo, the fraud Revel dealer's Revels always magically top the charts when he measures speakers in his garage. If this fraud sells anything, his competitor's products will magically measure poorly. We'd need lead test engineers from manufacturers to come and fully audit fraud Majimoomoo's tests from start to finish in the squalor of his garage (a.k.a his test lab...and watch him like a hawk).
