The winner
At a height of
1055m (3461ft),
Liathach is a monstrous brute of a hill that pops spectacularly into view as one rounds a corner on the way towards the village of Torridon on the West coast of Scotland. I climbed Liathach last summer and, along with many others, consider it to be Scotland's finest hill.

Upon reaching the
pinnacles…There are two options; you can either tackle the pinnacles head on or, for those of a more nervous disposition, take a path along a lower contour. I took on the pinnacles. Actually, they’re not nearly as bad as they’re hyped to be.

Meall Dearg. Out of the picture to the left are the Northern Pinnacles which are classed as far harder than the Fasarinen Pinnacles. I hope to do these sometime this summer (a winter attempt would require rope work).

It’s funny; as the competition developed I could clearly see who the current winner was at any time. Early on, Clint DeBoer was on target to snatch victory which of course meant that Tom Andry would’ve been the ultimate beneficiary of the whisky even though, ironically, his own guess didn’t meet the minimum height requirement of 914.4m/3000ft to qualify the hill as reaching Munro status.
Bummer, eh Tom?! Oh well, think positively; at least this way you'll be spared any stomach aches.
