Which brand makes the best quality loudspeakers?

Less than $1000 mark, the Dynaudio EMIT 10, small bookshelf speakers, and I never heard a Dynaudio I didn´t like

£630 in UK which is around $840. Not sure where to get Dynaudio in the US.

What matters is your musical experience, not the musical experience of John Atkinson in Stereophile!

If a product gets a nice review in Stereophile or the Absolute Sound doesn´t mean it will fit me or you
If a product gets a nice review in Audioholics doesn´t mean it will fit me or you

My ears prefer Castle. The wife loves Dali. My Ruark Epilogue in the bedroom are a good compromise because we haven't got enough room for floor standers. I have Castle Inversion 100s, infamous for being the speaker that bankrupted the original Castle company. They look like something pinched from Ming the Merciless's stack being very art deco in appearance but sound superb. The Dali are much more neutral to the warm enveloping sound of the Castles.

I just said his taste may evolve, I didn’t criticize his taste or make any comment about budget. He’s new, mentioned Polk and Klipsch which both make fine speakers but there’s a lot more out there. As he sticks around he may get exposed to a lot of other speakers and his taste may evolve.

Nope you did Not say his/her choice of speakers aren't any good. That's a really good analogy>"taste may evolve" could also state as my comment= subjective> as tastes evolves.

You decide to make it an issue. With my comment, I was being polite first and second post of your comment.

Dude believes his speakers are the best. Subjective, sticking around has nothing to do with the polling and/or votes. Plug away. I don't see an issue? or what the thread is about, it's subjective the whole thread.

Many feel Bose 901 are the bee's knees.

BTW, you are both correct. I am absolutely inexperienced! I’m a newbie to this audio world! I’m 61 years old and my first venture into this hobby was to very recently purchase a set of Polk Audio R700’s, a Klipsch RP-SW12 Subwoofer, a Klipsch RP504C-II Center Channel and an Onkyo NR7100 Receiver. I’ve certainly learned that I should have stepped up my game on the receiver, but IMO the R700’s sound absolutely fabulous. I’ve also learned that the low frequency response of the R700’s is so outstanding that no subwoofer is required at all. This is a HUGE STEP UP from my Vizio Soundbar! My brother owns the Klipsch RF7- III speakers and they too sound fabulous, no subwoofer required . He is 62 years old and yes, we are both new to this audio game! Thank you for your patience.

Honestly for your first setup beyond a sound bar are doing amazing and better than most. When you come to a forum dedicated to audio obviously most of us have better setups than 99% of the population but you are already in the top 10%. I’m sure it sounds great and if you’re enjoying it no reason to buy more equipment. You may want to start a new thread (if you haven’t already) introducing yourself and posting a few photos of your setup and room. Adjustments to how speakers are positioned can often make more improvements than spending money. Welcome to the club and remember at the end of the day it’s all about your personal enjoyment.

Thank you so much. I’ve been told by a few folks that I should have gotten at least a 140-150 watt receiver. My Onkyo is 100 watts. Would a 140-150 watt receiver create a dramatic improvement in sound and output? I’m unsure if my question is phrased properly.

40-50 X 2 more @ an 8 Ohms load, little more headroom around 1.1/2 to 2 more dbs of headroom maybe a little more dynamic.

At higher volume levels. At most your only using around 25 + x 2 at normal volume levels. -25 dbs if that. I'd say -15bd on your display about 50 x 2 watt's.

Don't know if you remember those VU meters of days past. Those would hardly moved till volume knob was passed 12:00 O'clock..100 watt's x 2.


That 7100 is a good match for your towers. At your age I wouldn't recommend high volume levels or anyone else for that matter. It really isn't about how loud, many speakers can get loud.

Its the quality of the reproduction of the sound. Stay pat, your setup is good. Remember there's always better, less also.

As you have found out coming from a SB. Anything else stepping up to a flagship AVR with a bigger power supply 150 x 2 will run into the thousands. Funds aren't an issue? Some on AH will help you spend away! Enjoy your setup.

As others have stated...your Onkyo will do/be fine.
You would need to spend thousands more to hear any improvement....maybe.

In this hobby/pastime, knowing when to stop is just as important as knowing what to do !

Many here on AH have tons of audio/video experience decades at it. Or retired EE. Me? Just a lot of practical experience trial and error. researching on my own. Not knowing theory/application of Amp/AVR/Receiver/Speaker etc. Read a lot of Dr. Toole articles and others. I leave that to the spec heads. Watch out for snake oil! Enjoy!

I am VERY slow to upgrade equipment. My old stuff has to be broken or deficient in some way, or a crazy deal comes along. So my input of contribution will be severely limited.
I currently run Audiovector QR3, QRC, Energy RVSS for the sides, and Paradigm Phantom V3 towers for the rear speakers. A Martin Logan Dynamo 1100X rounds out the subwoofer duties.
A Marantz SR5012 receiver powers the sides and rear speakers, with a Denon POA-8300 sending RMS 200w to the Audiovector LCR at 4 ohms.
I LOVE the sound coming from the Audiovector. Effortless, full, gorgeous sound with no distortion I have encountered. Most everyone who has auditioned my setup agrees it punches higher than expected.
I got these Audiovector speakers for a crazy price from a dealer buddy of mine. Sadly he got out of the game.
The room these are in is BIG and this setup has no issue filling the space.
