What the hell are you thinking?

My "restaurant style" recipe for steak:

  • Heat cast iron skillet in 500 degree oven
  • Coat both sides of steak in kosher salt, pepper and vegetable oil
  • Put hot skillet on stovetop at high setting
  • Cook steak in skillet for 30 SECONDS each side
  • Cook for 4-5 minutes each side in 500 degree oven
  • Remove from heat and cover with aluminum foil for 3 minutes
  • Serve
Works perfectly for cooking about a 1" thick steak to perfect medium.

Glad to see this moving in the right beverage direction, but Mexican food with Guiness Stout
No, not "with" Mexican food. The Guinness would come after dinner.

BTW, we ended up avoiding the Guinness. Unfortunately, we did get run over by a few pitchers of Margaritas. By the time it was time to sing Happy Birthday, we were somehow all singing Feliz Navidad? It was a long night.

I see that Sonic checked in this weekend and gave us some more words of wisdom.

" Mexican food + beer= explosions in the rear."

Agreed! ;) :D :p

Ah....margaritas, mue bueno....I've met that guy Felix the Navy Dude myself a couple of times.

A question of utmost importance.....what is kosher salt? Can you edge a margarita glass with it

It's salt that's Kosher. :D

I actually break tradition on that one, I drink Margaritas with no salt. I know, I know. How can any True Blooded Texan not have salt on their Margarita glass? Wel, I don't!

So everybody, Salt or No Salt?

Shinerman.

Salt or no Salt?? Neither, just give me the tequila.

kosher salt is rough ground salt that isn't bleached and has been inspected by Rabbi. I prefer Kosher salt to normal salt because it tastes better.

Hmmm, sounds too chunky for rim dressing anyway. Salt for me on a blended margarita but no salt for straight shooters or OTR servings (unless someone is serving budget tequilla)....Cabowabo or Patron is good with no enhancements necessary.

Now for Mexican food, Tex-Mex style is pretty good...far superior to Kalifornia regurgitated Taco Bell style, but my favorite is New Mexico style cooking. 'Course, with enough margaritas prior to supper, most anything is edible.

Diet Coke, Diet Coke, Diet Coke.

Nothing stronger than Diet Coke.

My favorites:

Diet Coke

Ribeye WELL Done. Sorry guys, if it bleeds, looks like it might bleed, or is still moo-ing, its gotta go back on the grill.

Snow Crab legs. Bring me 1/2 pound at a time, a side of drawn butter, and keep them coming until I yell stop.

and some more Diet Coke.

We went to a place called High Tide Harry's in Orlando, FL with my parents when I lived there. It was the last day of "all you can eat" Alaskan King Crab Legs... My Dad and I pounded down well over 3 pounds each. They don't do that special anymore unfortunately (and I'm no longer in FL). That was simply awesome.

I'm more of a Stone Crab man myself. Those big ol' claws are so good to eat. We have a place here is Houston that runs all you can eat deals on the Stone Crab for $39.99. Worth every penny.

I tried to put Red Lobster out of business. RL used to have "Crabby Monday" ... all you can eat Snow Crab Legs on Monday for $22 (if my memory serves me right). The RL staff just hated to see me coming through the door. I did 4 lbs by myself on one visit. RL dropped the "Crabby Monday" program. I wonder why.

The waitress couldn't complain. I tip well.

I can do pretty good damage with Stone Crabs as well.

What is the sound system like in that resturant? Got an idea.... offer to help them with their system in exchange for a life time free Crab card.

I agree (except for the well done part. Why not just eat hamburger?) I should buy stock in Coca-cola. They must put something addictive in the diet coke.

BTW should i get the 2500 or the 3805?

The 3805. I got the 2805 and it goes great with Diet Coke, popcorn and any movie pulled at random.
