Earlier today I was at my grandparents' house so I had a coors light citrus blend. It was ok. I'm drinking a kronenbourg 1664 blanc right now :)

Saturday night I had a widmer hefeweizen and brooklyn oktoberfest.

Friday night I had several dos equis and half of my fiancee's watermelon margarita.

Thursday night I had some blue moon and a paulaner oktoberfest.

lugar1.jpgI got back from San Diego a week ago. It was tequila heaven. Shipped back a few excellent bottles that can't be found in the east. Casa Noble Single barrel, Arette, El Maestri, Classe Azul reposado, and a couple of others. I ate with a former resident of mine at El Agave in Old town. The food was excellent. No crummy tacos here: filet mignon stuffed with goat cheese and a tequilla reduction sauce. The highlight is the more than 2,000 kinds of tequila on the menu. The walls are lined with them.

I started with the remaining glass of Sam Adam's New World Tripel (10% ABV). Then moved on to a glass of their Tetravis (10.2%).

Pretty good. I bought the New World hoping that it would be like La Chouffe. Not quite, but still good. The Tetravis is also good. Btw, the corks are a huge pain in the a** to get out.

Yeah, I'm pretty effed up right now.

Woah - 14 days since a post here? Did Kruppy start AA? :D

I went to Trader Joe's last night to get Niki some mint bone treats and picked up some La Fin du Monde, along with something I hadn't seen before - Stone "Go To" IPA. I tried the IPA last night. Decent to me, but probably really good if you're a hop head. It's only 4.5% ABV, so you get a lot of the hop taste without a high alcohol content.

It's a winner for summer daytime beer swilling. A lot of the craft brewers are doing session IPA' now.
Cheers, Mac

Hi. My name is Bob (Hi Bob) and I'm an Alcho.....What the hell am I saying?!

The past two weeks I've actually talked more about beer than actually drinking it.....Did have Founder's Curmudgeon Old Ale and a Belle's 3rd Cost Ale (barelywine) Friday.

Picked up a 4 pack of New Holland Brewing Pilgrims Dole (Bourbon Barrel Aged Wheatwine) on Thursday. I missed out on this last year.

YES! I hit CM yesterday, they are having "Beerfest" right now. I tried some beers at a demo and spoke to the rep for several minutes. I then looked at the little card with her credentials, and realized I was speaking with the daughter of Celis (a now defunct central tx brewery). She is trying to relaunch the brand.

If you have a CM nearby, then GO BUY BEER!

Yup, the "GoTo" is pretty danged tasty! I had it on tap a few weeks ago.

Yeah, the new trendy thing to do with IPAs is to lower the ABV to the 4% range but leave the bite of the hops. I can think of a "Half-IPA", the "All day IPA", and there is another from Lagunitas that I can't remember. Of course, it's a dual-edged sword, but for these hot summer months, I probably prefer the lower ABV.

I just had the Stone Enjoy By 07/04/2014. For hoppy beers, the fresher the better! So Stone puts out the "Enjoy By" series so you know you have drank this beer while it is still in its prime! It was danged tasty (and I have a 2nd bottle too), but honestly I expected a little more bite/bitterness out of Stone. But if you want a "more balanced" IPA, then this one is top of the pack.

I was unable to make it this weekend. I believe the sale is through the 24th. I have two Central Markets relatively close by - the one in Southlake and the one in Fort Worth. Hopefully I can make it there after work tomorrow :D

Hopefully you already realized this, but the DFW craft-brew scene is really starting to take off right now. I have tried probably 6 new breweries from that area in the past 6 months! So far, I think Deep Ellum is the best (IPA is top-notch, and the Dallas Blonde has a great motto "goes down smooth"), and the Revolver aint half bad either. Of course, Rahr was way ahead of the curve as they have been around for at least a decade.

Now, the Central TX craft brew scene has become amazing over the last 2-3 years. Central TX is now right there with the likes of San Diego and Portland!
