Weird 12v trigger issue

It was...ummm...used for the monitor so I could see what I was doing when I was on the computer:eek::D

Yep, the first thing he said was we need to do an early lunch. I said nope, I have appointments booked all the way through lunch. He "got" a call about an hour later and said he had to go to Houston.
Similar but it would have been a VGA connection and not a serial connection. They look similar but are not interchangable.

What was the connection doing?

That was quick. I guess he did not have breakfast.

Then that one won't work. I think you should call your dealer and see what he has to say. I can definately help you do this if you want but if he will take care of it you will save the $ for a cable you may only use once.

You are cruel.:D You should make sure your company cell does not have a GPS locator or he will know you are now back at home goofing off.

*GASP* Goofing off?!? He's posting on AH. How could you say such a thing. :D

Besides, his VP is probably surfing AH right now on his iPhone, thinking to himself, "That's true. I do like myself a good lunch!"

I have wondered about them using a GPS locator. There are 500+ salesmen for this company so I doubt they would go through the trouble. It is pretty much like any sales position- if you produce-there are no rules and I have been the top revenue guy out of my region since my first month there. All that being said, it is probably not smart for me to be on here during business hours using my real name. Most the time I am on here, I am on my BB waiting in offices for my next appointment.

I think I will just call my dealer and see what he says about the trigger issue. I would just trade it for a 3808 at this point but he doesn't carry Denon and I am not paying 1699 bucks at Best Buy.

What else does he carry? Not that I want to bash Yamaha but that setup really would annoy me.

Man, I have used Yamaha since 1989, I hate to change.

Here is a link to his products.

Hey, man. I totally understand wanting to stick with what you know and what you've been happy with. So, any dig from me is just joking. I would recommend giving the Pioneer Elites a look, though. I've been really happy with my Pioneer 1015, and I'd probably get the VSX-01 if I were in the market right now - but that's just because I would be sticking with what I know and like. :) I had a Yamaha right before this Pioneer, and I like the Pioneer a lot better. Could just be because it was newer.

For what I see there you would want to look at Marantz or Pioneer Elite. I have owned an Elite receiver and I really liked it. I just wanted a real prepro in the end. I really like the look of the new Marantz line. Very clean and uncluttered. Similar actually to the Yamaha. The Marantz is sure to have controls for the triggers and I know my Elite did. Maybe he could swing you a deal on a 92 or 94 model.

Oh I also see he carries Mitsu. I may have you ask him what he could do on a proj for me in a couple of months.

I have to recover from another expense. It got down below freezing here last night and my furnace did not run. Always something.

 Is that early in the year for that? Sure seems like it. Sorry about your furnace!

You mentioned the uncluttered look. One of the things that I really like about my 1015 is how uncluttered it is on the front face. The 1018 is not so uncluttered, nor are the new Elites...and the remotes seem inferior. Last year's VSX-92 and VSX-94 have a nice clean look, though, IMO.

What's the street price for a 94 these days? Do they have new models out? Can anyone confirm the volume display size and if you can control the 12v trigger?

I am sorry about your furnace too but it will keep your amp cooler now.

It is actually getting below 40 most nights now but it really got low last night and there was a beautiful frost covering on hte mountains this morning. Can't wait to ski!!:D:D

Thanks, me too. I had some work done earlier this year adding an ondemand hot water system. For some odd reason my furnace goes nuts after they put the Rennai in. The have nothing to do with each other and it must be my dumb luck.

It is one of the reasons I got the 885 over the 9.8. The Integra has more buttons in the front and no door to cover them like the 885.

Thanks.

You should be able to get the 94 for the same price as the 3800 IMO. The new models are out. They have an SC-0 designation now. My 72txv had control for the triggers so I'm sure the 94 is the same.

The volume display was tiny on the receiver display but I think it showed hte volume level on the monitor (Like my Onkyo;))

I just took a good look at the front displays on the Pioneer Elites. Uggg, that tiny volume display is a bad trend. :( The front panel volume display on my 1015 is plenty big, and I'd much rather have it on the front panel then on the TV.

What you need, Greg, is a remote that's smart enough to display the volume.

Displayed using HDMI?

Ok I may have been talking out my a$$ on the volume display on the Pioneer. It was my denon that did it and it used component. The HDMI OSD on my Pioneer had to have a TV that could do 480i throught HDMI. itschris has a 94 and when he comes on we should ask him about on screen display of volume.

Crap, I am sick of this. I am either going and getting my Studio 40's back and using my 659 or buying a Bose!!!!!

12 Trigger adapter

Greg,
My Yamaha receiver that I am using as pre-pro did not inlcude a 12V output so I am using a low tech solution to turn on my amp. I took a 9V wall wart from an old cell phone and attached a 1/4" mono plug from radio shack. Plug it in to the switch out on the receiver and when the receiver turns on, the amp turns on.

If I sell the Yamaha soon (I have an emotiva pre-pro on order) then I could probably send you the adapter.

Good luck with the 3800.

Thanks, it is more the priciple of it all. I mean it all works but my amp should not come on when I just want to listen to music in the bedroom.

It's more than just principle, unfortunately. JC's solution would have the same end result - that your amp would turn on when you turn your receiver on, which is not what you want.

...buying a Bose!!!!!
Finally, you're starting to talk some sense! :D
