Normally I agree about fictional entertainment... but this is one of those stories that rarely gets told outside of books that nobody but historians read, and the whole effort had a huge effect on the shifting of the war and particularly the safety of Allied ships at sea. In fact, the program was almost too successful- we were decrypting almost every piece of German intelligence by the end of 1944 (and Japanese intelligence as well, the Germans shared Enigma with them) that we almost had too much data to act on. Large pieces of relevant information were missed because allied commanders were just buried in decoded material.
While the true story is often more interesting in terms of details and occurrences, it generally doesn't make for the most interesting movie. They have to add a little Hollywood to it or it doesn't really sell to the masses - that is probably the single largest difference between a documentary and a Hollywood movie.

I thought this movie was pretty average - acting was not so good, story was good but the script wasn't, choice of actors was questionable in some cases, but overall I still enjoyed it. I thought it was funny that the HDD review even said "I don't know why Universal keeps touting this out as one of its top catalog titles..." Well, because it SELLS.

I have to wait a few days for my Nightmare Before Christmas since mine is coming from Amazon (non-Prime). It was the best price I found at the time and because it is over $25 by itself = free shipping.

I had the DVD version for years so I picked this up on BD. Amazon Prime makes things too tepting.
This is one of my favorite soundtracks. The DTS-HDMA is really top notch. The video quality is great, but maybe not as Crazy as something like Crank or POTC
