I think what many folks miss is the Canadian and European attitutes are quite different than American. Canadians and Europeans will not only put in retaliatory tariffs, they will completely boycott products. They are more used to living with less and will have no problem prioritizing local products. Americans on the other hand are used to pure consumerism and buying what they want when they want, boycotts would prove much harder to implement. Not to mention that fighting everyone at once, probably isn’t wise. A trade war with just China would likely end up in favor of the U.S. given where things stood a couple months ago, but now and initiating trade wars with various countries at the same time probably won’t end well.
