I guess what I tried to convey is that you can trade in an IRA/Roth, etc. without worrying about tax consequences on gains whereas outside of such tax-free account you would pay taxes.

Yes, it just stayed in an IRA, just changed from a mutual fund to money market. I thought that's what you meant. It currently is outside of FDIC protection but if the drumphy keeps destroying things who knows what will happen there if he keeps working to destroy the economy.

And now we're back to drumphy withdrawing tariffs for 30 days....saw something that one province at least was going to keep up their tariffs for now, can't blame them. What a mess.

I think Ontario has wholesale liquor run by a provincial state board, and they have halted sales / imports of all USA wine/beer/spirits...

This will be a positive for Australian exporters (and European, South American etc...)

I believe American booze is coming off the shelves in most - if not all - provinces, including my own (Nova Scotia). All provinces have liquor boards/commissions, which are crown corporations. They are a legacy of prohibition which, after repeal, were stood up to control all wholesale and most retail alcohol sales. Provincial governments are loath to give up their monopolies, as they are cash cows.

I've never been a fan of this arrangement, as there is no real competition and you'll find the exact same products on every provincial liquor store shelf, which limits selection.

But, in this situation, I appreciate their ability to send a strong message. If you want to play hardball with us, we'll do the same.

more or less the same thing here in 'Hillbilly Pennsylvania', Pa Liquor Control Board, runs the State run liquor stores. Thankfully I'm 30 Mins from tax free Delaware and Total Wine ! Just bought 2 cases of Seagrams Vo couple weeks back, should last me to months end.....

more or less the same thing here in 'Hillbilly Pennsylvania', Pa Liquor Control Board, runs the State run liquor stores. Thankfully I'm 30 Mins from tax free Delaware and Total Wine ! Just bought 2 cases of Seagrams Vo couple weeks back, should last me to months end.....

I'm primarily a Scotch drinker, with some Irish and Canadian ryes thrown into the mix. I have a bottle each of Bulleit and Buffalo Trace bourbons in my liquor cabinet though. Those two will be the last until the "war" is over.

Interesting, one of my favorite Western Canadian whiskies(rye infused) is Pendelton which I believe is distilled in Alberta ? and is bottled in the US(at least used to be), wonder how that plays out in the trade war ?

Yeah, base "It's old and outdated" on one Amendment that makes people twitch.

You and so many others are freaking out by Trump and what he's doing, but you don't see that he's the problem- a person doing bad things (you can debate whether he qualifies as a person). You're blaming HIM, not the Office of POTUS. That's the opposite of what you do when you blame guns for the problems. You want to blame the thing, rather than the assholes who go around shooting people. Look at what's happening in Europe now- more shootings than they have had in a long time and in countries where guns have been banned. Knife attacks are up drastically, too but it wouldn't matter if knives were banned, people would still use them.

I like Total Wine prices too. Though I have to pay Sales tax and have to drive across two counties buying from TW is still cheaper than my County run liquor store.

While down here in Florida my go-to is ABC Liquor, good selection and some cases even better pricing. One of my favorites for Manhattan's is Canadian Club 12 year, almost impossible to get back home but easily available down here and reasonably priced.

2nd amendment just one example that came to mind first as it is poorly interpreted from original language and purpose. What we need is someone to implement the 25th amendment (but that may be futile due to the long list of idiots in the succession list but it could be a start).

What? I'm pissed, I'm not freaking out. Drumphy and his maga cronies are doing bad things for sure, but that's been obvious for a long time. All the republicans are complicit in this. So I blame the right wingers....they're people. They voted for this crap.
