Hey all, I'm new to the forum but loooove Home Theater. Started years ago with pro logic, what fun that was. Over the years I'v upgraded here and there and finally got what i consider a nice little system. Heres the thing... if I had put all my money into only HT, hmmmm I prolly could open my own theater!!! So my question to you guys is this... What else do you guys collect that prohibits the ultimate HT? Here is my list...

1. Gotta have some tunes in the ride (White Mazda 6 w/black windows) right? Were talking Sony color screen cd player, infinity 6.5 components all around. Kicker 12" L7 solo baric run by a 800 watt rms Fosgate mono block amp. My second car a black Dodge 1500 sport has a Kenwood deck, infinity components, and a 12" sub (forgot the brand but its good) with another 800 rms Fosgate amp.

2. Gotta have the flyest pc to go with the HT right? Amd xp3200, 1gig ram, 6600GT vid card, 80 gig Raptor HD, Sony 17" lcd monitor, and every new FPS game imaginable.

3. DVD's - Which of us dont have a decent dvd collection right? I'm workin on over 700 of em right now. Then also in this catagory I'm spending like $100 bucks on a nice little storage system for those... pics to come...

4.Now of course with all that pimp gear above u gotta have a fly phone right... so of course I got tha Razr V3 for those late night calls :D

5.Cigars & micro brews... heres yet another hobbie that is taking money from my dream HT.

I guess my question is... Am i the only one here overly concerned with having the coolest stuff in every catagory? Or do you too suffer from this ailment????

Just wonderin... if I'm normal

Thanks for the posts!!!

XP3200? Sorry, thats not the flyest as far as PC's go (don't feel bad, XP2500here, OC'd to 3200 of coarse)

A fly PC would be an FX-60 with dual 512mb 7800GTX's....mmmmmm The way ram prices are going these days, it makes more sense to buy 2 gigs.

As for my hobbies, I like Hockey, Beer, Cars, and Guitar....and long walks on the beach. :D

to add... if I didnt have so many hobbies, maybe I would have a higher end pc and a higher end HT system... I spread my $$ out too far, so I get like middle of the road everything instead of having like just one pimp catagory, ehhehe

mannn awsome pics!!!! Thats a huge tank..2300 gallons. I cant even imagine how much that would cost in up keep each month. So I ponder this... if we have one "aholic" catagory are we all "aholic's" to some degree in every aspect of our lives? I know I will never be able to have a simple 27" stereo tv and a crappy this and that. I'm constantly upgradding something... the pc, the car, the HT, the girl friend heheh...

Great thread! I think all of us have some sort of collection sicknesses.

I'm not into super high end stuff, but still collect quite a bit.

* Compact digital cameras - Canon S400, S500, and SD400 with several large memory cards, and two hard drives filled with great pics.

* Huge model train collection. N, HO, and O scale. It's out of hand.

* CD's - probably a few thousand. Songs - have gigs and gigs of downloaded songs. DVD's - not that many. I bet I have less than 30, but my kids have hundreds. I get 1/2 price DVD rentals, so it doesn't pay for me to buy them.

* Mountain bikes - Kona, his and hers. Got the daughter a 20" Jeep Commanche yellow and black mountain bike for Christmas. Wish I had a bike like that when I was 6.

* PC - average PowerSpec system, but with a very nice 20" LCD monitor. Works great for video conferencing. Got the parents a new computer with a PC camera, so they talk to the grandkids a few times a week. Got them an Altec Lansing set of speakers and subwoofer for the PC. Also got the folks up to date with a digital 4mp camera with mpeg 4, and a 37" HD LCD tv with a built in ATSC/NTSC tuner. Put a massive roof antenna in their attic for free local HD programming. They're in their mid 60's, and further ahead tech wise then most half their age.

* Beer - all kinds. Especially dark beers.

* College Football. The Buckeyes. Could you guess? Probably my favorite time of year - fall, and attending games.

* Home improvements. Put on a 2nd story addition - set me back 25 grand, but made two upstairs bedrooms master bedrooms, and the second bathroom a huge master bath with jaccuzi. Also finished the basement - had to have a gameroom with a pool table, air hockey, darts, ping pong, qb pass game, tv, leather couch and loveseat, and a Yamaha audio system. Built a small shed for the John Deere and lawn mower, and a very large playset (copied one of those Rainbow play systems) for the kids.

* Car shows. I hit all the local shows, and am actually headed to the Detroit Auto Show tomorrow morning - 4 hour drive  . Spending Friday and Saturday there, then drinking some brews in Windsor both nights. Always breaks up the winter monotony.

* My HT :) I had the Sony STRDE 925 before upgrading to a Denon 3805. Have a 7.1 set of Polk RTi/CSi/FXi speakers, and a 12" Cadence sub (have been planning on upgrading forever, but that little thing rocks). Nicest peice is the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR - can't beat watching/recording in HD. I've got 3 tv's upstairs, 3 on the main floor (1 in the garage  ), and 1 in the finished basement - all have cable. I also enjoy wiring, soldering, making cables, etc... Saves a bundle on interconnects.

* This crazy forum. The guys here are great, and the attitude of most is laid back. It's nice to BS with guys so into this hobby.

* Save the best for last - kids. I have a 6yr old girl, a 3yr old boy, and expecting a new baby boy within a month. I spoil them rotten. I'll soon need a bigger house for all the toys.

Buckeye... mannn you got it bad... I can only imagine if I made more money what I could buy heheh. Most my toys have come from $12 an hour jobs... Im kinda lazy and havnt done much to further my career. =) LOOOOVE dark beer... should anything else even be made? Here in Oregon we have some awsome brews... so thick you can eat with a fork! Now thats good beer! =)
Ohhh one other thing Buckeye.... WHAT ON EARTH SHOULD I DO WITH MY RECEIVER'S EQ SETTINGS????? I put up a post earlier today about it but not many have replied... The post was called... EQ help needed please. If you could point me in the right direction that would be awsome... having issues.
Once again thanks to all u guys for the comments. I love movies and HT!!!
and ive gotta say this... JURASSIC PARK is the BEST movie made... PERIOD!
No better movie to show off your system in my opinion... =)
