It had only a few issues that were all addressable. I don't think "all f'd up" is at all in the ballpark. I have reason to believe it was not treated gingerly in storage.

That's just semantics. I'm glad you got it running and looking mint.

I would be bent if neither channel worked on a unit costing that much. I know they're fetching big bucks. Imagine what you could sell it for!

The seller was not being deceitful. He said "it worked". And yeah, the motor turned the platter. He never hooked it up to find that one RCA was shot, the other had a ground that needed re-soldering.

Anyhow it is now working in as new condition. It was all easily put right. I am certain everything is now in optimal adjustment.

My Dust Bug usually floats onto the label. I hate that. I think it has something to do with the height of the pivot post, but not so sure. I cannot seem to find the exact right height to prevent that. It always stopped at the label with my previous tt. I found a solution. I have a spindle weight that I think is mostly good for a warped record maybe not much else. If I use that weight, the dust bug stops in the perfect spot!

I used double-sided tape to try a spot closer to the corner and removed the post from the existing mount so the Dust Bug would clear. Then I tried a record and both sides stopped right at the label. Perfect!

This turntable came with an existing dust bug mount fixed in the general area where it should go. But it's not an authentic Watt's Dust Bug mount so it's in a slightly incorrect spot for this device. So what I will do, per @TLS Guy 's suggestion, is use denatured alcohol to remove this mount. And then re-attach it in the correct spot.

I think it's important to add that I wrote a very accurate description with multiple close-up photos, of course. I was completely up front about the cracks, how I repaired it, etc. I have 100% posi, at over 1300.

A temporary fix was fine, as a permanent fix sacrilege! Pride in ownership is important actually, as it is a constant reminder that good classy gear has to be cherished and cared for. If it looks like junk, that is how it will get treated. That is human nature in my expereince.

Great to know my instructions worked out. Just a point for others. When getting glued objects unstuck, denatured alcohol is your friend. Usually recommended acetone is not good. It is faster but destroys finishes.

I actually used 70% isopropyl alcohol. I made a little wick from a paper towel. After a couple of hours, it was already loose. I cleaned up all residual glue before I re-attached it.

I have a Guess Who album that I bought used at a garage sale several years ago. It has too much surface noise now with my Ortofon Black and has become unplayable. This cart reveals everything. Of course it was never great, but you could play it. I am concerned that my Bowie "Station to Station" will be the same scenario when I get around to attempting to record it. I have run both LP's through the Vinyl Vac system a couple years ago and I do recall it helped the Bowie record a lot. I bet it's not enough now. Is there anything to the wood glue method? If there is, I'd try that and then hit them with the Vinyl Vac again. Just to be safe, I'd give it a double scrub. Then afterwards, clean the stylus which I do occasionally anyway.
