I didn't start following this until the truckers were actually in Ottawa. The fringe started it and inflamed it, still it seems enough of the truckers strongly believe in their acts to go through this. All the interested parties have to deal with the situation in front of them now and its long term repercussions.

Yeah, breaking up the protest won't make the issue go away. But, the gradual easing of restrictions will, hopefully, take some heat out of the situation.

The declaration of emergency will expire - unless extended by parliament - in 30 days. Then, within 60 days of its expiration, a public inquiry must commence and a report presented to parliament within another 360 days.

I think the lack of cooperation from towing companies was more out of fear, than solidarity.

The strangest thing about this controversy is that beside crossing boarders long distance truckers are the least likely to infect anyone. They are by themselves pretty much 24 -7. Except for the occasional truck stop meal, they are alone in their trucks. Mandates? Probably unnecessary.

I was watching a show last night and someone said truckers shouldn't be afraid of COVID if they don't die from using the toilets at truck stops and then, someone said that wouldn't compare to what they could catch from the 'lot lizards' (hookers) at truck stops.

The protestors are slowly being dismantled. I like the approach that the police have taken and are still giving the protestors a chance to leave in this 2nd day of the operations or face crimininal charges. Yesterday's operations resulted in over 100 arrests and prevented a sitting of Parliment to debate the Emergency Measures Act. Parliment and the debate is on today. What protestors are failing to realize is that they are facing a class action law against them on top of the criminal charges. What happened these last four weeks will burn in the Canadian psyche long after events are over.

Those protestors are acting illegally at present. I think the police are getting a little bit too patient.

What I would favor is putting under arrest all of the people in the front lines facing the police constables. That would incite a good percentage of the others to quit the area. IMO, that would take care of the situation a lot faster.

In addition, I would enact a temporary curfew in all the area surrounding the parliament.

I have so many questions, but I'll start with these:
Can you explain how it is that we are living under tyranny in Canada?
What makes you think the COVID vaccines are ineffective?
Since unvaccinated Canadian truckers cannot enter the US, what practical effect do you think dropping the vaccination mandate* for truckers would have?

*Remember, vaccination is not mandatory. Unvaccinated drivers would have to present a negative PCR test upon re-entry and isolate for two weeks. That may sound onerous, but that's how we are able to accommodate unvaccinated truckers.

I'd be interested in meeting - well, maybe not - "radical leftists, Marxists and supporters of fascism", who are able to hold such divergent views simultaneously.

Another misguided person reading antivacing propoganda from people with no medical knowledge. Where 's the freedom for the people living in downtown Ottawa who had to endure honking and personal threats to their safety for wearing masks out in public? But its ok to go on a rampage, cause property damage and harrass people because one dont believe in a policy? Its calling the kettle black don't you think? Like I said earlier, freedom in a civilized society is NOT a God given right. It has to be earned through respect to others and their property. If one chooses to cross this boundary and infringe on the rights of others, then that person looses their personal freedom.

I do agree that mandating vaccinations for long haul truckers on both sides of our border was a stupid thing to do and was a political thing for those in power. I absolutely hate politics as it brings out the ASSH?LE in people. Alberta's primier is the pefect example of that calling out for help and then condemming the invocation of the Emergency Measures Act.
