Over at the AVS thread, I think there were 3 people who had tweeter damage and someone mentioned that Eric had told them that he knew of two others, one of whom frying tweeters was an ongoing matter but that he (the owner) didn't seem to mind since he was so enthralled with the speaker. Also, IIRC, one of the posters there had been offered a different crossover which purportedly would deal with his tweeter blowing. I'm not sure if the problem was limited to the Lore's.

Certainly, as Imcloud has noted, this could indeed be a result of owner abuse. But that is not the only possibility at play here. Musical selections that are particularly rich in the higher frequencies might also be a factor. The choice of the crossover design with the drivers used also can't be ruled out. But without the parts being sent back and honestly examined, the reasons offered by us as well as Eric are pure speculation.

There is also a model called Lore with has the Audax tweeter.
I am not sure they were played too loud but going on his posts it possibly could be.

QUOTE
No distortion or clipping issues here, Eric claims 18 DB/Octave x-over;
I am too old for this bs. I want loud, and louder. If I cannot feel the music--sitting on my leather recliner --it is no good for me.
Sorry to admit that I just went psycho--buying a pair of Zu Audio Omen Def Mk.I-B on e-bay for a gadzillion dollars.
So, if these things do not play loud, as I like, there will be h to pay !!!

and
At that point I emailed Eric. I told him that the best sounding speakers on the planet are of no use to me, if I cannot play them as loud as I please.

Hopefully these will play as loud as he can bare.
See when I think of someone wanting LOUD, I think of something like the cerwin vega 215s with an xls amp, I don't care how loud you think you like music, put them in front of you and make sure you have good medical insurance to repair your inner ear damage, lol... They are cheap too, and they sound good at the upper levels... I have listened to music loud, and I can tell you past a certain point you may as well have a ghetto blaster on your shoulder because sq is gone, I lose all sound quality listening capability when music is stupid loud... I think I listen loud but that is not waking the neighbors loud, I don't see the point of it, BUT, since some people do, that is why there are speakers out there to take care of that, my EV pro setup with the dual subs, could cause death if played in a small room, so maybe that is what this guy that is blowing tweeters needs, some pro audio speakers with some 10lb class d amps, I promise you are not going to hurt a set of EV 15's with ev 18" subs and a couple of crowns xls2500's..

Tekton Speakers

The Fine Print: listen to only Dynamic Range Compression (DRC) music with little treble & keep the volume below 95dBC. :D

Contraindication: Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture.

It makes me wonder. Do Seaton & JTR owners have problems with blowing tweeters?

I haven't heard of any issues however IIRC, NYC mayoral candidate, Anthony Weiner, aka the peter tweeter on Twitter, apparently had no problems getting blown.

I think you're mistaking him for Eliot Spitzer. ;)

Can you guys help me out? If you get a balance DAC, do you still need a Pre-amp or can you go straight to the power amp? thanks.

- Edit

Nevermind. Did a quick google.

no, and if anyone cares to read a few of the GTG threads on AVS where Jeff from JTR has attended would point out that most are afraid to even hand him the remote because of the insane levels he cranks his speakers up to while they're being demoed for people to hear. It's almost as if he's daring people to try to blow his speakers. You're ears will give out perform JTR speakers will.

Same pretty much goes for Mark and his Seaton speakers.

So you spent $2900 on an external DAC and $2,500 on it's matching amp  , so what are you going to hook that dac up to ? or did I miss that ?

If you seriously spent $8000 on the above equipment and yet again changed your mind, then I think you should be banned, lol... I've been on here for a little while and post often, I can tell you, you are the worst troll this forum has ever seen, if the mods don't delete this entire thread there is something wrong with them, because its full of useless conversations, and obviously started and trolled by someone not serious about buying anything, and probably can't afford a jvc boombox let alone a $8000+ system...

If you have been talking to Eric this entire time and changing your mind, then I think he is the real victim... But we should be spared any more exposure to this nonsense...

DONT GIVE THIS TROLL THE SATISFACTION---- BAN AND DELETE THIS THREAD!!!!!

Hold on Imcloud, here it is 8:47 am and I'm having my coffee. This is way better entertainment when compared to this mornings newspaper. I mean we have world events and comedy all in one thread... :D

PS: PS he needs to spend at least $150.00 or more on a Audiophile USB cable/RCA/SPDIF for that DAC and another $150.00 or more per speaker cable and darn it lets not forget the Audiophile power cords, he is going to need a few of them and they're not cheap :D, After all this is trolling for dollars at it's finest, I can see at least $10,000 in total purchases to get that authentic Audiophile sound.

Completely ignoring who may or may not get one:

Good gravy! Who would spend $2500+ on an ICEpower module in a fancy box? Who would build a "high end" amplifier and advertise that you're just using an off the shelf amp?

Yikes. ICEpower was dropped by pio, they said it was because they could design something better for similar or less cost. I don't think it's a stretch to say it had something to do with all the customer complaints about them sounding......not so good. I'm a big believer that all well designed amplifiers that measure well will sound more similar than different when driven within their limits, so I think it says at least something that there were a ton of complaints and then they were dropped.

I sure as sh!t wouldn't spend money on ICEpower modules. Too bad the decision is final and done.

This is what leads me to believe he is not buying anything just a troll looking to get a rise out of people, since women give him no attention... No one can be that stupid...
