In all seriousness the people that this frequent forum are supposed to approach this hobby from a more objective standpoint. We're typically not advised or encouraged to spend money on gear when the return is not justified.
So money is now an audible quality? And members should be encouraged to not buy for resulting R&D successes, customer service, and great reviews with bench measurements? We should ask you first—right?

However, owners of two of these marvelous subwoofers will remain "up a creek" because the equalization software cannot address the interactions between them. For that, the two solutions are both costly
You weren't "up a creek" with your two SB-16's, were you?
Why should your new SB-17's be any different? They are just subs, nothing magical.

There are other ways to tame sub interactions (if you actually have any) rather than throw even more money at them.
Maybe post a pic of the subs in your room and describe any interactions you are having.

All subwoofers are designed to is play low frequencies that our speakers typically can't do. Each time you add an extra sub to a room each one represents the point of diminishing returns.

Yes, but the way he's doing it is overkill. He already has two SB 16s and he's wants to purchase a flagship SB17 sealed sub to even out bass response.
It might be overkill. For you maybe. In my room it wouldn’t. My space is 16x25 connected to a matching size kitchen with a 12’ vaulted ceiling between them, and a foyer beyond that. On concrete. I don’t think it would be even close to overkill. You have to think BEYOND YOURSELF! Besides. Who are you to say what overkill is?
