and i have a QSC MX1500a ....

what i want to do it this ...
run the sub out on my amp to my poweramp ....
then disconnect my woofers on my speakers and run them to the power amp ....

then ...the mids and tweeters would be still connected to the speaker out on my sony ...but id run my sony in small mode for the speakers and direct all the bass to my power amp ...

just wanna know the pros and conns ....

this is the specs on my speakers ....
? Recommended Power Amplifier Range: 10 - 325 watts
? Nominal Impedance: 8 ohms

? Tweeter: 1" titanium laminate
? Frequency Response: 32Hz - 20kHz
? Crossover Frequency(ies): 850Hz - 4.5kHz
? Sensitivity: 98dB (1 watt/1 meter)

this is the specks on my amps sony ....

now my poweramps specks....

Power Requirements - 100, 120, 230 VAC, 50-60 Hz

any help and stuff would be appreciated ....:) for i have sold my little sub woofer cause i dont like it ...

i allready have some nice cables for the sub out ...sheilded rca cables and i also have rca to tsr connectors ...there good quality ...not the best ...but they arnt cheap either ...goldplated and what not ...same with my bannana plugs on my speakers ....

iv also thought about bypassing the crossover with my mid and wiring it straight to the binding posts and only have the tweeter running to the crossover ...yet my amp will still be in small mode ....

anyhow please help here...i really wanna incorperate my power amp into my system ...and i cant afford to buy a sub or a new set of speakers ...just not affordable ....

CyboLynx,

An active crossover is the ticket for bi/tri-amping. If you run your tweeters full range, your woofers full range, etc., it isn't likely to work very well.

Hope this helps,

Let me see if i understood your set-up correctly:

You want to bypass the crossover of your stereo speakers between the woofer and the mids and run the woofer directly to a power amp connected to the sub-out of your 5.1 receiver.

That seems ok, the receiver's sub-out is supposed to be cutover at or below 200 hz, and you would equivalently be using a powered sub connected to it. But does your receiver have L and R sub out? Otherwise, you'll be feeding each of your woofers with L + R low frequencies. Nothing worng with that, except that contrary to the notion that LF are non-directional, LF above 80Hz are. And you can confirm that as you can distinguish a stereo bass from a mono bass via headphones.

You want to set the 5.1 receiver to SMAL and run its speaker out directly to the speaker's mid and tweeters. And you would also want to bypass the mid's crossover. Nothing wrong with that. Hopefully the mids can handle the cutofff frequency of the receiver 's SMALL setting which usually starts at 200hz. Mids are typically cut-off at around 400Hz in speakers. But you can try. Are the mid drivers sealed at the back? If so, they may have difficulty pumping out below 400 Hz.

Just my 2 cents.

ok ...i just ran into a pair of N24II ...

so now what im thinking is this ...

i run my JBL CF-80 as mains ...the N24II as my surrounds ...
NcenterII as center ...

then i could run my power amp from my sub out to my CF-50s and still bypass the crossovers and run straight to my woofer ....

how dose that sound ?? ....

i can still run my mains as large cause they rate at 45hz - 20khz ....

surrounds and center as small ...

now i dont wanna run my amp hard but i like bass ...but i also like the definition ....like the strings on the bass guitar being picked up as there slapped ....or picked ...

i also like to hear the glass shatter as its being broke and tingling on the floor ...and when the thunder hits i like to hear it ...

but i truely enjoy music as its best ....

oh well ...ill play with them all and find the best configuration...wish i had a nice sub ...lol

but im sure 2 15" woofers with a poweramp can back that up ....for now ..lol

yeah i dont mind ripping my speakers appart ...to get the better speaker how can you with out experimenting eh ?

meh ...anyhow ...its fun even if i have to put everything back to its original way ..:)
