Sony does not supply the spec. If anyone has measured it, I would love to see a graph as I want to manually tweak the response with the equalizer in my Marantz AVR. (I don't use Audyssey)

These EQs are meant for room correction, to adjust response errors of speakers due to their interactions in rooms, aiming, and placement. No two rooms/placements/aimings are alike so it is impossible to make a blanket correction that serves all situations.

Also if the poor sound of the TV's internal speakers were easily addressable merely by applying some EQ then Sony would have done just that in their TV's own amplifier circuit.

It's physically impossible to make a great sound from thin TVs. The TV speakers don't exist to be a part of a home theater; they're just barely adequate to watch the news. You should at least look into getting a pair of bookshelf speakers if you want to improve the sound quality.

As far as the frequency chart, Rtings did measure this model, and while I can't see the image itself in the archived version here, it should be online if you get their membership, I guess.

After reading their measurement result summary and subjective opinion (see below), I think they are extremely generous with their sound score to be 7.3

The TV has a decent frequency response. It has more bass than most TVs but is still very muted. While dialogue sounds okay overall, and the TV gets very loud, there's a lot of compression at higher volumes, resulting in pumping artifacts.

Curious, how would you apply eq in the tv via the Marantz avr? You using the tv speakers or not?
