Sure thing: ;)

Symphony X, Dream Theater (not really metal), Opeth, Pain of Salvation, Kings X, Angra, Platypus, Porcupine Tree (also not really metal), Spocks Beard, Fates Warning, andromeda.

Prog metal isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it sure is mine! Enjoy!
Um, I think the request was for bands even faster/more technical than Dillinger Escape Plan.

Um, OK. Almost every band I listed there is more technical (maybe with the exception of Porcupine Tree). As for fast, last time I checked, Dillinger Escape Plan's guitarist wasn't doing any sweep picking or tapped arpeggios, I didn't notice too many polyrhythms on the drums. I don't know what do you consider technical? You obviously know better than me.

Oh and I love it when people roll their eyes at me. It shows maturity.

I havent heard all the bands you listed, but Dream Theater, Spocks Beard, Porcupine Tree, and Kings X are all much, much slower and mellower than Dillinger Escape plan. In fact, I can follow everything they are playing and enjoy listening to them even with my adult tastes. By contrast, DEP is the most brutal, punishing band I have ever heard, and I do well to catch one note in 10.

I don't know if Tool qualifies as metal band but I really like their sound and depth.

Playing lots of notes doesn't necessarily mean that they are doing complex, technical, overly difficult things with the instruments.

I like some of From Autumn to Ashes (FATA) stuff, particularly when they still had both singers instead of just the one they currently have.

Exactly what I was trying to say. They may play fast (and sloppily so), but it really doesn't qualify as technical IMO. Either way, I was just recommending some bands for him to check out, not determined to get into a my band plays faster than yours argument. :D

Well, I think if you listened to their album called Calculating Infinity you would be proved wrong:D.

After listening to those bands I still like DEP better, dont take it personally its only music:)

Can you give me the name of a song? I checked out Panasonic Youth (I think that's from Calculating Infinity), and still didn't hear anything too complex.

I'm not taking it personally, I was just offering some suggestions, per your request. :)

Nope, not from Calculating Infinity, that is from their album Miss Machine. I listed a song before it is called 43% burnt. Calculating Infinity is my favorite album...much different than their newer stuff. It seems you are not very familiar with them...you sure have a lot of expert opinons on them.

This takes the cake...you are saying Dillinger plays sloppy...LMAO...they are super tight....you need to get your hearing checked....you have lost all credibility to me...no offense, honestly.

Yup...super tight....come to think of it, they're probably the best musicians on the planet.

as for having no credibility with you anymore. I'm so sad. Please don't make me cry. :(
