3,000 cubic ft room 12x25x10 open to the rest of the house on one right side of listening area. Trying to decide between two 12" or one 15" and these models seem highly regarded. Or maybe even two HSUs 12". We do 50/50 music movies. Any thoughts appreciated. Not sure dual TN1s are necessary.....they are pretty huge. I guess I'm trying to balance taking all the space in the living room and good sound like everyone else.

Two subs will yeild a better response than a single sub, so I would go with two subs if possible. The Speedwoofer 12S will have a bit more low-frequency extension than the Hsu VTF-2 mk5, but the VTF-2 mk5 will have more mid-bass punch.

The VTF-TN1 has a very substantial performance advantage over either of the 12"s. Even two VTf-2 mk5s or two 12S subs would not equal the midbass output of a single VTF-TN1. The TN1 is a larger sub, but only in height. The 12" subs actually have equally large or even larger footprints, so they would take up a lot more floorspace. Two 12" subs would probably be sufficient for your situation, but two VTF-TN1s would be a hell of a lot of fun.

I saw the JBL HDI-1200P sale but I'm thinking for basically the same $ I can get the 15" TN-1. It has lower bass response looks like.

Good thinking....just think of the poor fools who paid anywhere near list price for that JBL. (Klipsch does this too..half price or better)

One thing about HSU and RSL, their list price is very reasonable and you never see them going on sale...they are already on sale. ;)

The HDI series speakers are fantastic. But the tn-1 imo, is a much better overall subwoofer. Especially if it will be used for movies. The RSL would be a better choice also imo.

My biased vote is for the RSL SPEEDWOOFER 12S. It is FEROCIOUS!

Well I just ordered two HSU TN-1s. I don't think I'll ever have room for 4 subs. We'll see how it goes

4 months in, I am EXTREMELY happy with the HSU TN-1.
I know this is old, but are you still enjoying the HSU?

Ive been debating on this same thing, should I get 2 12s or the 1 15 (sure I'll get another 15 down the road).

Currently using a PB 2000 pro (in trial period) and I like it but for the price I think the TN1 will be way better. My room is a little bigger than yours

I am only using one of the TN1s in my big room. I use the other one in my bedroom!
I found the one, properly placed, for us is working great. I can't tell where the bass is coming from. Maybe if I really, really focused and closed my eyes I might.
My opinion is try the one TN1 and if you want another, get another one. The space difference is minimal to me. And I like the height/shape on the TN1.

Thanks, yea I'll only have 1 for a while. I do like it's shape compared to other boxes and from pictures that I've seen in of it in rooms it looks good.
