I hear you. I have a very nice fully auto DeLonghi machine at home but what this guy is doing is something special. Have not had espresso like this except in Europe.

Is it perhaps a manual lever action machine? The kind where strength is needed to literally 'pull' the shot? I've had those, but also had a friend who bought a commercial strength machine. Its called the E61 brew group because it was designed in 1961, and hasn't needed to be changed since! Pushing out that kind of pressure greatly changes the flavor, and only a lever action can best it!

I've heard of that, but don't know anyone who owns one. How often does she need to replace those filters?

Personally, I am stove top espresso lover! In my motorcycling road trip days, it was most convenient to take a back packing stove with me, and I could pull over and brew in the same container!

A few of us have those. There's a technique to fill them upside down from the normal instructions (awaits comments...) that works well. I use a new paper filter each time. My brother bought a metal filter for his.

Glad to hear there is a more permanent solution. To make coffee involves two ingredients. I don't want to wake up one morning and realize I'm out of filters...

I'm bringing my car in for its last prepaid service. I paid something like $1000 five years ago for a package deal on the first seven services (which are every 10k miles after the first one). It's been nice not having to think about the price of service for the past five years.

Ordered a bunch of small things to finish the speaker cabinets. Bonded dacron, screws, grill magnets, and sonic barrier vinyl dampening sheet. I was thinking of putting the vinyl layer in between the inner baffle and outer baffle to decouple it from the cabinet. Dunno if it'll actually do anything, but could be a fun experiment for a future project where I actually try constrained layer dampening.

Need to call Fedex again to double check and make sure my request for a vacation hold went through. The tracking information is saying deliver Tuesday, but I won't be home until Friday. Not ideal since there are supposed to be some scattered thunderstorms before I get home.

I'm not sure how I'll measure anything since I'm not making two pair, but perhaps I can compare to pair of sealed speakers that are similar. I'll have to put more thought into it when they're done.

It's an exponential graph with # of appletinis on the y-axis and likelihood of putting out on the x-axis.

Well, measurements only tell part of the tale as to how humans perceive sound, so build a sealed box with and one without the baffle 'decoupler' and listen to at least 3 different well known tracks and tell us what you think!

That said, I am pretty sure Adam is 3 dimensional, but I'll leave it you to measure his 'z-axis' ;-)

She uses a new filter every time. I used it this morning and I liked it. No bitterness at all and not even using a quality coffee.
I'm a tea drinker though, so I'm wanting to try it with some nice loose leaf tea.
