Microsoft Tech support is quite literally making my brain rot.

Why are you communicating with them? You must really be having difficulty to deal with that.
I use Parallels for a few things like dreamweaver and some other stuff. New computer means having to reinstall everything and I got parallels to install and I went to install windows from my backup disc only to find that they sent me a Spanish only disc. I can download an .exe file, but I'm not sure how to or if it can even work from that. I just contacted them to see if they would send me the right disc, the disc I paid for and they're giving me this run around and the Indian I'm speaking with doesn't seem to understand what I'm telling him/her.

Might as well download the .exe and see if it works. Heck, it wouldn't take that long. :)

I don't recall if I've ever spoken with a customer rep out of India. I do most things by e-mail, but I'm inherently self-conscious and anti-social...not a good combo for calling people. :D As you well know, most of my contact with Amazon is through India, but they've always been great.

See that's the thing. I've only had good experiences with Amazon CS, but Microsoft is almost intentionally bad. I don't get it.

I already tried the .exe, but it didn't work. They said I made the mistake and ordered a Spanish version and that they'd have to escalate my inquiry in order to see if they could send me a disc or not.

In any case I've given up. The good news is that I went on to my new school website thing and I can buy windows 8.1 Pro for $14 with a new backup disc for another $14. For $28 I could have 8.1 and a new ENGLISH backup disc. Sold.

Didn't I said somewhere than everyone I know whom gets Mac pc installs Parallels since they need to run windows and then hate it ???
You choose Mac and OSX - stick with it !! Be a man! Grow a pair! - Especially for Design apps - this is what Mac is made for

I actually don't hate parallels, even though like you said, most people say they hate it. I have to have windows in some form or another for school stuff that can only be accessed through IE, and a few other school related programs that don't have mac equivelants. Prior to the new job I had parallels in order to run speaker related programs like Bass Box Pro. Trust me, if I could get away without ever installing parallels I would, but schools are notoriously mac incompatible, so I grudgingly continue to keep parallels, or should I say, continue to hatefully give money to microsoft for their stupid OS'.

For design apps, I do use mac stuff, like dreamweaver for mac and all that. I only use windows for about 4 things, but 3 of them I have to have which is annoying.

What about using Boot Camp instead? Just dual boot...

I was able to help someone get their Pioneer receiver working how they want through the comments section of one of my reviews on Amazon. Made me feel good. :)

I did try bootcamp back before I had parallels, but wasn't able to get it functioning consistently. I'm not sure if it was because I did something wrong, the computer, or something else. Now that I've had parallels I'll just keep at it because I'm resistant to change and all that ;)

Why manufacturers don't make easily replacement faucets with some sort of quick connect fixturing right at the sink top, I don't know. Well, maybe they do, but I'm too lazy to look.

Yeah, I'm installing one now...
