Pretty Sure I Just Broke My Arm

Getting old, man. Watch out or one of those parts might just give up and fall off! o_O
Starting to feel a little bit better now, after some coffee and ibuprofen. It's sinking in how lucky I am it wasn't worse. I cracked my face and jaw pretty good in the fall as well. When I got up I had that blackness closing in the edges of my vision and felt nauseous, likely more from the pain of the break than a concussion tho. I had to crawl inside my truck and lay down for a few minutes before the fog lifted and I felt safe to drive.

Your head impact combined with your symptoms make even this layman think you have a good probability of a concussion:

You shouldn't have been driving home. I'd see an MD and get checked out ASAP. The urgent care was probably focusing on your arm because you didn't complain about anything else. You turned smart last night. Don't go back to being dumb. Seriously.

Well since this the thread for ailments. I think I'm Covid positive. Woke up feeling awful. Achy as all hell, freezing chills, slight runny nose, and my temp is around 100. Gonna take 2 tests just to make sure.

Well I took an at home, do it yourself test and am negative but man I feel awful. My temp is now over 100. 100.5 or so. I have one more test that I'm gonna take at around 1 to back that up. Next I'll do a test at doc's office. I feel just awful though.

Well , I'm glad it wasn't as bad as feared , but sounds like you are pretty banged up..take the opportunity to take some down time... At least now you won't be chasing big towers ..too much lifting...get better soon...

As a few people I know found out the hard way, a positive test result is probably proof of a current or previous infection, but a negative test result doesn't really prove anything. I'd recommend getting a lab PCR test; they're more sensitive.

No not vaccinated but trying like hell to get it before this. I'm not eligible yet which I don't get. I'm an essential worker. I worked right through this thing around the public and workers. My job was just shut down till Monday because someone tested positive but they didn't do that the 2 previous times. So I don't get that.

Yes, they molded a splint around my arm and bandaged it up tight. I don't think any manipulation will be necessary, thank god.

I did wake up with a headache and not feeling so hot this morning. When I fell my arm took the brunt, but I did bounce my face off the sidewalk too. I have a scrape on my cheek and chin and having trouble chewing. My jaw is really sore. My big toe on my right foot is twice as big as my left one and I can't put any weight on it at all.

I didn't hurt like this last night. I was primarily focused on my arm, but some other stuff is making its presence known now. Funny how the body does that. I wasn't in any real pain for a few hours after it happened. I'm all jacked up now, lol.
Man that was a nasty fall you took! But I have to agree with @Irvrobinson you should go to a emergency room or at least your family Doctor so he can look you over and take some X-rays. Get some pills man ya gonna need them the pain will only get worst.

Pft. I wish. They're so stingy with pain pills now, I don't see them prescribing me anything. They recommended ibuprofen and offered me an ibuprofen shot, but didn't even mention anything stronger. My experience has been "ask for pain pills and they look at me like I'm a junky"...

And I'd feel like a junky begging for a fix if I pushed for something stronger. I never find Drs willing to prescribe for pain it seems. So unless they ask I don't usually bring it up.

I always hate that conversation. Pain pill simply don't work on me. If they prescribe something wimpy, I usually don't fill it.

However, I'm lucky enough to have never really felt REAL pain before, but have broken a few bones.

Sorry this happened to you bud. Gotta be careful in your old age. :)

Don't screw around with this- I nicked my index finger with my new tongue & groove router bit and they insisted on taking an X-Ray of it, to make sure it didn't hit the bone because they said it would then be considered an 'open fracture'. That makes it prone to bone infection and that can be deadly. My comment that if it had nicked the bone, we would have seen bone was ignored.

Also, nausea after a head impact usually means concussion, from what I have heard. When I kit a rafter with my head, the Doctor asked if I had lost consciousness and I answered with "You're asking someone with a fresh head wound?". He responded with "Touché".
