Remember subwoofer hum can also be from a cheap non-shielded cable as well, so don't rule that out. Good quality shielded cables can eliminate stray signals from outside interference...

Thats a good point because I have used some cheap cheap subs before and never had a hum but I used some high dollar cable too.
